Hmm maybe.

none of the angels know why they came to earth only gabriel knew, raffe said in angelfall to penryn that humans were incidental.

so if they didnt come to earth to kill humans why else?

only reason i can think of is the hellions/nephillim /dark forces.

i wonder what other apocalyptic nightmare the angels are going to release on the humans..

can't wait to see beliel team up with raffe and penryn, it better happen

I thought about this and it is a very interesting aspect. We don't know why they came, because Gabs disappeared before he could tell the angels.

Btw, I thought about Gabriel's disappearance and I noticed something: Do you remember how in WA, Uriel says that he set up the labs (in which those children and scorpions are created) month before the angels came down to earth?
Well, the only reason he set up those labs, was to create these biblical creatures to aid him in his run for the messenger position. However, how could he have known that that position would be available before the angels even came down, meaning before Gabriel was shot down. It seems as if he already knew that Gabriel would disappear and his position would be free.
I'm sure that Uriel set it up. We find out in WA that angels aren't killed with bullets, so Gabs couldn't have died anyway.

And seeing as Uriel did the same thing to Raphael, it isn't unlikely.

Oh yeah i reread the scene in the new aerie when laylah says to uriel 'its a miracle we're as far a long as we are. you know that, right? in only ten months, we've managed to get an entire apocalyptic machine running'

Do you guys think Raffe is in love with Penryn? Or do you think it's an act? I think he loves her but is still trying to deny it.

His reaction when he finally found her again in WA seemed pretty conclusive. She's been on his mind, ya know?

What I see in the cover:

Black and white feathers mingled... might mean Penryn and Raffe both get wings and lose them?

Also the gold background might indicate Gabriel is Penryn's father?

I think the black and white feathers might be like a symbolic meaning, you know? Like, you know how Raffe has demon wings currently, and they're black, but he normally has white snowy wings? Maybe it sort of represents the dark and light in Raffe, because there's darkness and light in everyone, be them angel or not. There's an example of this in Uriel. I don't believe Uriel was always "evil", if you would put it, but he definitely has darkness in him, and I know Raffe isn't pure light either, you can just tell from his character. He isn't the most angelic angel there is. I don't know, it's a wild theory about the wings, but that's what I came up with. :)

Also, I don't think Gabriel is Penryn's father. It's a good idea, but I don't really see it because Penryn knew her father until a few months prior to Angelfall and Susan Ee stresses that she's human. It's the main difference in the book that's represented. There are two sides: The supernatural (angels/demons) and humans. So, I think it would be a great plot twist, but I don't really see it happening.

i agree i think that we be looking to much into the wings lol

in the first book it says uriels job was to look over the pit and alot of the angels didn't trust him because he had to close ties with hell, so he could be being influenced by a something more evil.

How would penryn get wings though? alot of people keep mentioning that maybe penryn will become an angel or raffe may become human (i hope not), the angels dont seem to have any powers apart from super healing, living for ever and all that lol.

i wonder if we will see penryns dad, in wa there was abit when penryn says her dad was an engineer and the old woman says back to penryn mum 'your husband was engineer' and penryn mum says 'my husband brad was an engineer' i just thought it was abit odd the way penryn mum talks about it as if she had two husbands lol and is penryn mum crazy or is she actually talking to a demon?

What if the wings on the cover represent the light and dark side like you guys said but they look like they are falling off right? What if it is like Raffe's battle with himself to either be good or bad?? Or it could mean the Angels/Demons battle and the wings falling off means tragic ends?

I like the idea of the feathers symbolizing good and bad.

If yall look at the shadows the feathers are different from the white ones. I don't think they are shadows but different wings entirely.

YES! I really think he is. I quote:

We can see how much Raffe's character has developed since book 1. In Angelfall, he's avoiding Pen as much as he could. He even took a step back when Pen tried to hug him. In World After, he's more... transparent. He embraced her tightly on the shore and cried silently. He openly stared at her when they're together. He didn't even deny that he might or might not had been heartbroken. He rubbed his cheek against Pen's hair when they're flying. Yes he's not verbally confessing his feelings, but he's clearly showing it and not denying it now. AHH, I'M INLOVE.

I knew he loved her!! I thought I would ask what yall think. That was one of my favorite scenes that you just mentioned!! :) remember the scene when Raffe says, " I've had to watch you die once, isn't that enough." I love Raffe and Pen so much!! :)

I'm currently rereading Raffryn scenes and noticed that Beliel was present in some of it. In Angelfall, he witnessed Raffe's rampage after seeing Penryn "die." In WA, he also saw Raffe paused and slowly smiled at Pen in the middle of his fight with him. Raffe also had a chance to get his wings back but he let Beliel go just because Pen was in trouble.

Beliel witnessed all of it. I'm so SURE he got it all figured out: that Raffe is inlove with a Daughter of Man. Maybe that's the reason he's messing with Penryn's mind in the End of Days excerpt. Maybe he wants Pen to hate Raffe, or stay away from him and hurt him in the process.

Awe... I hope Penryn realizes how much Raffe has changed! I was just rereading the scene (spoiler) in world after when the sword shows Penryn the scene when Raffe gets his wings cut off. I loved the kiss scene in AF and when Penryn is tryingo get Pooky Bear to show her. Haha

In World After when Paige is tied up by those soldiers after killing that man, she screams and the locus men-monsters appear I don't think that was a coincidence as if they were flying by. I think Paige called them to aid her. I mean we realize later on that she can control them because the doctor that worked on her told Penryn he did something to Paige. Just thought I would throw that out there.

My favorite scene in the book is probably when Penryn kills burnt kidnappers of children and all the swords bow down to pooky bear the archangel sword! lol

in wa laylah and uriel discuss a new batch of monsters they are creating, i think i recall them saying something about lion teeth lol and that uriel wanted them to wreck havoc on humans im guessing they will be the nightmare apocalyptic monsters that will be unleashed, im wondering if Paige will be able to control them too

Absolutely agree! There is also the mention that Beliel smiles when he sees Raffe and Penryn reunite 'as if he likes what he sees' (pg. 336)

I bet the plan to take Penryn away from Raffe (like Raffe might -accidently?- took someone away from Beliel?) was already forming there!

There's a house mentioned in the excerpt, right? The doctor's house? A random house? I think Paige and Raffe are inside and Beliel is tied outside near the porch. As for the locusts, I also don't have any idea. Hmm.

I had a dream last night about the excerpt. What if Penryn lets Beliel show her Raffes past and while he is showing her Raffe comes outside and sees what is happening and touches the sword too and shows his version. Cuz there's always to sides to every story.

Yeah I think so. Because she's been faithful to Raffe for centuries and she never showed Penryn the kiss scene even though Penryn asked. I wonder what Raffe will do if he walks outside and sees what is happening.

I think beliel may team up with penryn and raffe in the end because of paige, the book description it says 'As unlikely alliances form'

i wonder if we will see more of josiah? in a q&a with susan some one asked whether we will see any more of raffes friends in this book and she said 'yes, sort of'

i think uriel may kidnap her, beliel knew about penryn and raffes reunion at the party at the new aerie, he probably would of told uriel about it.

If Gabriel isn't dead- (I had a dream about this too) what if Uriel kidnaps Penryn and locks her up with Gabriel. And that's how we find out he's alive. Like we said before Raffe said only an Angel sword can kill an Angel. Either Gabriel is locked up after being shot or Uriel killed him to get him out of the picture.

He still doesn't know about PB showing memories to Penryn, right? I think he'll be so surprised and worried. I also think he will be more protective of Pen with Beliel around so if he sees her within Beliel's reach, he's going to be so mad.

That would be cool, but what would the point in keeping gabriel alive? and he could have him locked up anywhere..

That's so true! I seriously want to see Raffe come outside and see what's happening. I mean I want to see Raffe protect Penryn from Beliel. Because Beliel could be tricking her - maybe, maybe not. There's two sides to every story. Even if she did have Beliels side that doesn't tell the whole story. You guys, if Raffe gets his wings back to so you Pooky Bear will go back to him? I wonder what Raffe named her. Hmm..

Raffe has to hunt down hellions so maybe they split up and Uriel stayed to "protect" Gabriel I mean he is the messenger of God. So maybe when Gabriel got shot Uriel carried him to "safety" and either held him hostage or killed him.

I agree that Gabriel isn't dead. Remember when the warriors splashed water onto the wounded angels and they were, like, resurrected? Some of them were shot up with bullets. I believe Gabriel is alive, gunned down or not, and is locked up somewhere.

Me too! You guys this is random but Raffe's sword reminds of Thor's hammer. How with Thor's hammer he is the only one who can hold it and others couldn't pick it up. It reminded me of the scene where Raffe couldn't pick up his sword in Angelfall. I know that was random but that just came into my mind. Lol

It would be so awkward if raffe did come out and see them.

i think beliel is manipulating penryn, beliel hates raffes for what ever he did to him, he knows raffe cares about penryn and now hes going to try and take penryn away from raffe.

what about michael he must of come down with gabriel?, the ones we are not sure who came down with gabriel is raffe/uriel and im still not to sure which one of them it was.

but raffe was already hunting the nephillim.

i think pookybear would go back to raffe shes super loyal to him, the reason shes bonds with penryn is because of raffe.

If Raffe walked outside and saw them what do you think he would do??
