Thank you so much, Sarah! We will be starting on Monday the 9th and our goal is 3 chapters a day! P
Hi Sarah! I want to read a book called as 'Before the Coffee Gets Cold' By Toshikazu Kawaguchi for the Happy New Year Challenge - January 2020. However, I could not seem to find the right book edition that matches with my physical book. My book consists of 213 pages in total compared to the other book editions. What should I do ?
Hi Ange, you can actually use the highest page count available for most books (there are some exceptions), so you could use this edition - https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/3... which have 384 pages and would give you extra page points ☺

ahh I see. Then, I'll do that. Thank you for helping me Sarah ^^

Editions of books?
To find different editions of books click on the book you want or search for it. Let's use Throne of Glass for example.
You will now be on the books main page.
Under original title, edition language etc. In this case under Literary awards, you will see 'Other Editions'. Click that.
That is where the other editions of books are. ^_^
Hi Akshita, we have GBR which is Group Buddy Read ☺ This folder has all the threads and also explains how you can vote ☺ - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
Sorry, we use Listopia lists, but we're only using our main one at the moment which is here - https://www.goodreads.com/list/show/8...
We take the top 5 (usually on the 22nd of the month) and those are then GBR for the next month ☺

You can PM me. ^_^
If you don't know how to PM me you go to my profile and under my name you will see 'More'
Click message and you will get a private message box. ^_^
Hi Noa, Bookbuyer is right, you can send a personal message to any of us (except Abbie), and we'll get back to you as soon as we can ☺

I wanted to read

It's tagged as Middle Grade first, but it's also tagged as poetry in the top 3. Are books based on what it's tagged as FIRST or if it's tagged in the top 3 for something?
I hope this makes sense... :)
Thanks in advance.
Hi Katie, we count books based on all their tags, so if a graphic novel or poetry book is tagged YA, we still count it as a graphic novel or poetry book, even if it's tagged YA more times, and I'm afraid that one would be classified as poetry and scored at 1 point per 150 pages.
Based on the highest page count of 352 pages, you'd need either 248 pages of poetry/graphic novel, 124 pages of middle-grade/children's books, or 83 pages of a regular YA/adult story to reach the minimum page count for claiming letters x

This makes perfect sense!! Thanks so much for the quick answer!! :)

I can't find it, and I can't find it on the planned buddy reads thread, who was your buddy? Maybe they forgot to request it? I'll make one now ☺
Here you go ☺ - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
If you let us know when you're starting, we'll add the correct date to the thread ☺

Hi Adriana, the 304-page middle-grade book (the tornado one) would count on its own to complete a square, so you wouldn't be able to add anything to that.
To work out the other one I find it easiest to convert to the same sort of pages, so middle-grade you divide 1.5, and graphic novel you divide by 3 to get the number of regular YA/Adult pages, so
240/1.5 = 160 pages
64/3 = 21 pages
160+21 = 181, so you're 19 regular pages off the 200
(or 29 pages of middle grade, or 57 pages of graphic novel/poetry etc)
Maybe you could find something to fill that gap now you know what it is?
xx

Hi, Sorry about the confusion! I forgot to clarify that I meant Finale by Stephanie Garber (Caraval #3)! Super sorry about that ;) Just for future reference, how would I find a buddy read thread after it is requested?
Thanks
Ah, sorry! You can look on the planned buddy reads thread for the month the buddy read is taking place, or the easiest way is to use the group search feature? If you're on the desktop site, go to the top right of any page on the group, and there should be some links, and then a search box for 'search discussion posts', just pop the name of the book or author in that box and press search ☺
(and on the page that pops up you can press the bubble for 'only topics' if you specifically want the thread title with those words in it)
Let me know if you have any problems x

Hmm.. I do have a manga I've been meaning to read so I'll just add those three together once I've read them all. Thank you!

Hi Jammin Jenny, if the play you listened to had 320 pages, then you could read any of the following to make up the missing pages -
280 pages of a play/poetry/graphic novel/novel in verse/manga,
OR
140 pages of an unillustrated middle-grade or children's book,
OR
94 pages of an unillustrated adult or YA book.
Hope that helps x

Hi Adriana, we don't usually count DNFed books towards bonus points, but as it's just this once, and as it's not for very many pages you can do it this time ☺ You'll just need to write a review for the 90 pages you did read x

When it was originally started it was mainly for YA books, but we don't prevent people from reading other kinds of books, so yes, adult books are read here too now ☺

Hi ColeBG, we have a thread, it's here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... Would you like it resetting for a new buddy read?

Hi Francesca, if you're looking for buddies to read together, you can make a post in this thread 'Wanted Reading Buddie':
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...
I can't find your post in it, so feel free to make it again. You don't need to make a separate thread, just post in the existing thread. Thanks x

Your thread is here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... It was moved because people aren't supposed to start new threads in that folder, they're supposed to use the existing threads to look for buddies (otherwise this folder would be a mess and nobody would ever find anything).
If you go to the main group page and look on the right you should see a list of topics, there is one at the bottom which says 'My Group Comments', if you click this it will bring up all your comments, which might help you to find threads that you have commented on previously x

It's not visible on the app, I think.
If you want to start a buddy read, first you have to look for other readers who will join you. Then you put your request in the planned buddie reader folder for the month you want to read it in, adding the book and the date you want to start. Like, if you want to read a book in January and you've found other readers, you put your request in the planned buddy read folder for January.

I'm happy to reopen the thread and change the date for you, as long as you and your buddy understand that you wouldn't be able to use the thread for bonus points in our challenge if either of you are taking part.
If you're happy with that, just let me know what day you would like to start, and I'll sort the thread out for you ☺
