Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments I get them from publishers. Since I live in Denmark it's fairly easy to get Danish ARCs, since there aren't many book bloggers compared to the UK or US

I have a lady at Little Brown Book Group who sometimes sends me them, and I had one from BookBridgr once, I mainly use kindle copies though ☺

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4452 comments Are you guys buddy reading the magic study?

message 154: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sorry for the delay! We are reading all of the study books series, the thread is here - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments Do we have a movie/tv and music topic?

message 156: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90931 comments Mod
We have one somewhere, it keeps getting hidden because it's not used. I'll have a look ☺

You can start a general tv thread if the show you want isn't in there ☺

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments Where is it located? I'm on the app :)

message 159: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90931 comments Mod
It has it's own folder. I don't know how to use the app, but if you look at discussions (can you do that on the app?) it's quite a way down and comes up as 'favourite TV shows'

message 160: by Pam (new)

Pam (tinypami) Can someone change the date for Pandemonium (https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... ) to Feb 15th?

message 162: by Berit (new)

Berit | 872 comments I really would like to start participating in this group, however I only use the app. I have no idea how to link my reviews or updates. I do know how to review and update, just not how to link it. Will this be a problem?also I believe there is a way to add spoilers, but I have yet to figure that out, but I will :-)

Berit | 872 comments Sorry ;-) I've never had this happen where it posted more than once except for when I'm talking to you guys :-) another problem with the app is you cannot edit!

message 166: by Sarah Elizabeth (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90931 comments Mod
Spoilers can be added by typing <.spoiler.> (without the dots) before whatever you want to hide.

As for reviews and the app I have no idea, I tried using the app before and could not work out how to use it at all. Worst case, if you just post and tell me which book it is you've read, I'll find the review via your profile ☺ Hope that helps ☺

message 167: by Berit (new)

Berit | 872 comments Perfect! I don't believe you can link in the app, I know you cannot use links in the app, unless it's through a message. As to spoilers I am always worried I will do it and then the spoiler won't disappear, I'll need to do a practice run :-)I know when you're reviewing there is a specific button for spoilers, however there is not when you're posting, this is in the app. I have trouble navigating the website, and find the app way easier.

You can always practice spoilers here just to see if it works ☺

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4452 comments Hey, could you explain what equalizer points are in challenges?

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90931 comments Mod
Yay!

Equaliser points are intended to even things out if people are reading really big books. So if you read one book that is 1000 pages long, you only get the same number of points as someone who has read one book that was 150 pages. But because you've read so many pages, your 1000 pages would give you 5 equaliser points, to make it a bit fairer ☺

message 173: by Berit (new)

Berit | 872 comments What if you read a 300 page book or a 500 page book do you get extra points for that?

message 174: by Irene (new)

Irene (raenne) | 4856 comments Wait, so I can use spoilers in the app? (view spoiler)

message 175: by Berit (new)

Berit | 872 comments You still can't read them though :-) maybe someday or maybe not ;-)

message 176: by Sarah Elizabeth (last edited Feb 18, 2015 10:22AM) (new)

Sarah Elizabeth (bookworm_sarah) | 90931 comments Mod
Basically we count up all the pages you've read, and then at the end we give out the equaliser points to the nearest 200. So if you've read 3445 pages, you would get 3.4 * 5 = 17EP (45 pages remaining). We won't be doing equaliser points during the Chase Challenge though as it would complicate things a bit too much ☺

These Goodreads apps aren't all that good really are they? I don't even use it on my kindle, I just use the browser instead as I can actually do what I need to do on that!

Berit | 872 comments The thing is I got the app strictly to keep track of my books. I had no idea there was such a social side to Good Reads. Now I really only know how to use the app, I will eventually not making any promises, learn the website. However, I am slightly technically challenged :-)

I'm the other way round, I can't work the app.

message 181: by Berit (new)

Berit | 872 comments I think that is the case for most, I don't know why the app is just easier for me. However, I miss out on some things, so I do need to eventually figure the website out.

message 182: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4452 comments Hi, I have a question. I started all the bright places and January and put it down then I picked it back up on the 20th, but I do have one status update from January. I only got as far as chapter 2 in January and was wondering if I could reset the start date and use it as a February read?

message 183: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (jackiegirl02) | 4452 comments The app is easier for me in some cases but in others the website is easier. If you take some time for an afternoon or an hour, the website is pretty easy to figure out.
