Beth | 616 comments Do you ever visit the websites or blogs of mystery authors? If so, which ones do you really like? Some of my favorites are Margaret Coel's (http://www.margaretcoel.com/) and Ann Parker's (http://www.annparker.net/).

Many mystery authors band together in groups to operate blogs. Some of my favorite group blogs are:
Femmes Fatales (http://femmesfatales.typepad.com/)
Ink Spot (http://midnightwriters.blogspot.com/)
Poe's Deadly Daughters (http://www.poesdeadlydaughters.blogsp...)
The Lady Killers
(http://theladykillers.typepad.com/)

I'm curious to hear if any other Cozy Mysteries members have favorite mystery websites/blogs. Of course, I have my own and I invite you to visit and let me know what you think:

Denise | 618 comments I try to find a website for all the authors that I read. Unfortunately many still do not have a personal or even shared website. I would think that would be #3 on an author's to do list. You know, write book, get book published, get a website!

I also like to make note of an author's email address. I will often write and let an author know that I like/love his/her (mostly her) books. In addition, if I haven't seen any new books for a while I like to write and find out if any new books are forthcoming. Unfortunately the last several authors I have contacted have said that their publishers have dropped them.

I like Susan Wittig Albert's website at www.mysterypartners.com

also Lorna Barrett's website at www.lornabarrett.com. Lorna has a nice list of other author websites under Extras.

although not a cozy (nor even a mystery) website, www.elmcreek.net is the website for Jennifer Chiaverini

I'll stop here and give others a chance to post.

Denise | 618 comments Here are a few more Author websites that have other interesting things on them:

Blaize Clement has a nice website at www.blaizeclement.com. Blaize is the author of the Dixie Hemingway Pet Sitter series. I have only read one so far but I intend to read more. What I like about Blaize's website is that if you click on the Blog topic she has listed a "Blogroll" of other blogs. One of them I will discuss under another topic, Book Websites.

What I look for on an author website (or any book related website) is just what Blaize's website gives and that is links to other information filled sites. If you notice in several of my posts I will direct you to where I have found the information. I think by sharing this type of information we all benefit as readers (and those of you that are writers as well as readers).

Author websites that are just about the author are good. (Authors please keep your websites up-to-date. I absolutely hate to click on News and Events or some such title and everything has already happened, some of the events were several years ago. I also hate when the book lists are not up to date--this is your marketing piece--keep it current and people will use it.) But websites that lead us to other book information whether it be another author or book website or interesting blog gives your website added value.

Here is a website for Barbara Colley (who also writes under the name Anne Logan). Barbara writes the Charlotte Larue series. It is a really good series.

Here is the website:

Okay, here's one more for this post. Susan Conant and her daughter Jessica Conant-Park have a joint website. The site has lots of info on the mother/daughter writing duo but also has a FAVORITE LINKS section that has some new to me websites.

Here is the website:

LynnB Among others I look at "Stop! You're Killing Me!" found at http://www.stopyourekillingme.com/ . All sorts of mysteries, including cozies. If you click on the author's name, it gives the series in order, too.

Actually, getting a website should come even before "get published" so they can start building name recognition and establish their voice. I'm amazed at how many authors don't even have an author page at their publisher's website.

Here's a group site I recently stumbled upon:

Blaize Clement's Dixie Hemingway series is consistently good. Dixie grows as a character and all the stories have been excellent, so far. Am looking forward to the next one which I think comes out in January.

Beth | 616 comments And here's a new one. It's a group blog by mystery authors published by or to-be-published by Midnight Ink. I joined the blog soon after I signed my 2-book deal with Midnight Ink and am in the posting rotation. MI has quite a few cozy authors in their stable, so check out Inkspot:
