Manchester District Library Book Club discussion

So far I am really enjoying it and I hate to put it down when I must do something else. Unfortunately, I probably won't make it to the discussion because I will be in the Grand Rapids Area that day digging up a time capsule my classmates and I buried 30 years ago. http://www.mlive.com/byron-center/ind...

I am going to miss discussing this book with all of you. There is a slim chance I will make it back to Manchester by 7PM.
Here is my review: I really enjoyed this story. I would have given it 5 stars except I wanted just a little more explanation and closure. Reading this novel is like reading a dream. Things don't quite make sense but they seem so real as it's happening. Gaiman is a wonderfully imaginative storyteller and the narrative is so vivid I didn't even realize until the end you are never told the main character's name. I would love to know more about the Hempstocks so I am hoping Gaiman writes about them again.

Shea, we had a good discussion. And a new person joined, a woman named Joan. We actually realized that the only characters with names were the three witches (maybe the same person???) and the evil thing/lady. The mom, dad, sister and main character were all nameless. We missed you! And also you, Julia. Sorry you couldn't be there.

I wanted to do another review of this book since the one I did last year was from the audio edition. I got a lot more out of reading the book even though Gaiman is delightful to listen to...I was probably mesmerized in a dream like state!
However, I just finished reading a review that Julia had sent a bit ago and it had many of the same questions and thoughts that we had at our discussion the other night. Very interesting.

This is why Julia can't miss book club! I absolutely love that review and wish I'd noticed it before we met on Wednesday. Some days are just too nutty and Wednesday was one of them- no time to check goodreads. Thank you for sharing it, both of you.
