Hello!
Requesting feedback from members who print their postcards, as well as those who receive custom PCs.

What card stock do y'all like best for printing?

Recipients -- how would you describe condition of PCs on arrival?

I've been printing on Avery 8387 matte white postcard stock and wonder how it holds up during handling.

Thanks, Andrea and Amy -- one of the PCs I received was torn in a few places. The printing quality was excellent. USPS sorting equipment can be rough on postcards. Looking forward to more member input!

Tia Marie (tiamarienededog) | 176 comments When I first started printing postcards I used Snapfish.com however they ran out a few months back and have yet to replenish their card stock. I have opted to print 4x6 pictures that I take and use postcard stickers to turn my pictures into postcards.

I'm using Staples brand Double-sided Matte photo paper. I print 2 pcs to a letter sized sheet and cut them down. It occasionally gets pretty shredded by the PO, but they usually get it there! For international postcards, I always add a sheet of lamination to the photo side, that does a really good job of keeping the postcard in one piece!

I would love to find something thicker, that's still photo paper... but with the amount of postcards I send, cost and time are an issue!

Happy Day,
rift

I should mention that I use a piece of contact paper on the photo side.

How do you laminate on one side only? I'd better look at my laminator again -- that is a great idea. Thanks!

Betsy | 348 comments Rift, most of the post cards I get from you have parts ripped off on the message side. I usually can figure out the message though. ;) The picture side is always perfect.

Con-tact paper is like a giant piece of tape that covers one side. It's easy to use. Here's a link to the one I use, no laminator required

Thanks! Hadn't thought of contact paper in ages :)

Mudpie | 16 comments Rift, I'm in Singapore so by the time your post cards arrived they are ripped in different places on the written side too. I definitely blame the postal sorting machines!

Christine (creading) | 18 comments Rift; all your cards have reached me in the UK in perfect condition. I have been making mine from a set of blank postcards I bought from the National Portrait Gallery. They are quite thick watercolour type paper, I'm not sure what condition they arrive in though! I have just tried using a contact paper coating for my October cards thanks to the suugestions on this thread, I just hope they don't completely peel off in the post!
