Thinking about going to see it tonight with my son. I also loved The Conjuring, but I'm a little troubled by the low user rating (a little under 50%). I don't pay attention to critics for horror movies, but usually the user ratings have some merit. We'll probably go anyway, though.
I'm trying to find someone to go see it with me too! None of my friends are into horror. :(I agree, Wendy-creepy dolls are scary!

I definitely want to see this movie but I don't know if I will end up seeing it in theaters or when it comes out on DVD.
Yeah this movie looks freaky but the "month" of Halloween is too expensive for me to see this one in theaters. If I did see it in the theater, it would have to be at Cinetopia in one of their over 21 rooms.
A friend of mine saw this and said there were many jumpy parts.

The problem was the plot wasn't that well thought out or fleshed out. There was a lot of stuff they sort of threw in there without really tying it all together. It seemed like they were relying on the "creepy doll" effect ad the reputation of The Conjuring to carry them through, without having to put as much effort in. We enjoyed it, but it could have been a lot more.
I saw it. Many jumpy parts and I didn't leave the theater wanting my money back so I think it was good. By no means is it the Conjuring and I think that is what people kept comparing it to and of course it fell short. Decent horror movie, some folk are just too critical I think.
I dunno I want to see it but from what the flim looks like it's nothing like the real life case. so I'm in two minds.
It was boring. Not scary at all. A movie of "gotcha" moments that don't "getcha.". If you can follow music cues, there are no surprises. Watch it on DvD. You'll waste less of your money.The first "gotcha" moment was pretty good, tho.

I just watched this a couple days ago and really liked it.
It was different than I expected. Not creepy really, not horrible, pretty average.

I loved everything about this movie. The Annabelle doll is creepy but I always felt like using the original "Raggedy Ann" doll would have really set this movie off! Nicole
The movie was pretty good however I think that horror movies these days are trying to much with the jump scares. Throwing things at you to get a scare just isn't all that great to me.
I agree, I prefer subtle creepiness, not cheap creepiness

I remember when this movie came out they made the previews seem creepy and people talked about it like it was hella scary but I wasn't impressed at all.

About 2 years, no more like 45 years ago I seen an episode of the Twilight Zone about a creepy doll. I have never recovered. Annabelle is crazy scary to me.

Trouble is Annabelle shouldn't have been in The Conjuring in the first place. Typical of the director's sensationalising of the original story. If he had covered the book it would have been much scarier. Therefore "Annabelle" became a bastardisation as a separate film and just doesn't work. Not seen it but if it is worse then The Conjuring (Great first half, dreadful 2nd) then it really is not worth it.

I saw it but I honestly can't remember what all happened. So I guess it wasn't that scary, it didn't leave an impression on me.
It's ok but if you google the real Annabelle doll you will laugh instead of being scared. Also the people who "investigated" the Annabelle doll, Amityville house and The Conjuring case were exposed for fraud several times. That kind of ruins some of it for me.

Right? I remember when it came out and people freaked and I finally saw it and was like uh..what's so scary? Maybe Annabelle Origins is scary who knows
Annabelle Creation was a little creepy. Takes a lot to creep me out. I've actually had to take the remote control to the TV repair man to get the fast forward button fixed because I get so bored with a lot of the horror movies and often have the FF button pressed while saying, "Come one! Do something! Come on! Come on come on come on!!" Seriously, I swear this is the truth. In fact, I have to take the remote control back sometime soon, I've worn the button out again LOL.

The true circumstances surrounding the case of The Enfield Poltergeist are fascinating enough, but the Conjuring 2 was an absolute mishmash.
The reality of the situation is that the Warrens actually spent less than a day at the house, and yet...Hollywood, eh?
Not the first real story Hollywood has dramatized David and certainly won't be the last. They do that to draw more emphasis on the situation to make it bigger then it really was. Does it work? Yes and no, sometimes the real people hate how their story has been portrayed.
Movies are made to entertain the audiences. When it's regarding a "true story", they'll usually place the word "Based" in front of true story. Which gives the studios a whole lot of leeway to work with.Rather than watch Annabelle, I suggest you read and/or listen to

Creepy dolls = always effectful.
