Albert | 2 comments I just finished Acceptance (Southern Reach Trilogy, #3) by Jeff VanderMeer and am unsure how much I liked it. It did tie the trilogy up nicely but the remained vague on what Area X really was. It didn't really end the story.
I'm now in the middle of One Kick (Kick Lannigan, #1) by Chelsea Cain by Chelsea Cain who I think is a very underrated mystery writer.

Hi Maneesh, I guess you are pretty new to Goodreads...

1. For replying to a particular person, click on reply button on the right hand side below that person's comment.
2. Click on add book/author above the comment box (where you type a comment), add the book name and select.

I've read Journey to the Centre of the Earth. It was interesting, but I think it's dated. It read almost like a proper scientific expedition, which made it boring in parts, I found. Once they got on the water it picked up :)

I definitely prefer Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World as a better explory sci-fi prehistoric creature thing. It was a lot more fun. Although it was written much later, so Doyle was probably partly standing on the shoulders of giants there.

Sudev,
If you like this type of book, you might want to join the February Genre Challenge: mystery and thrillers. You can see the Genre Challenge schedule for the year here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Have you read all of the Game of Thrones series? I've only read the first book.

Cheryl wrote: "Have you read all of the Game of Thrones series? I've only read the first book."

Yes. In fact, I've read the first book twice already. I intended to read the entire series again because I thought GRRM was releasing Winds Of Winter in late 2016, but when I realized it wasn't happening I stopped (after the first book's re-read.) I'm gonna re-read the entire series in whichever year Winds Of Winter would be releasing.
I love (LOVE) this series!! As it was my first real high fantasy series, but the first book is my absolute true love. I'm a BIG fan of Eddard Stark... I have his posters and will be buying his funko pop soon too! For some reason, he touched me (along with millions of others) more than any other character in this series alive or dead and I simply can't get over his death :'(

Yes, I've heard that the author likes to kill off some of the most favorite characters.

Andrew✌️ (andrew619) | 153 comments I'm reading On Stranger Tides, a nice adventure novel about pirates and magic. In the same time, I'm reading Come tracce sulla sabbia a funny and intriguing mystery series, with a main character, a reporter, sometimes serious but many times definitely clumsy.

message 87: by Kathy (new)

Kathy The Alienist by Caleb Carr for the series challenge. Really good so far.

message 88: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (ashleym99) I am reading What I Didn't See and Other Stories. I typically don't read short stories so this is something different. I have only read two so far and they are not bad, but I keep expecting more by the end. They don't have the details that a book or novel does, but it good to change things up and try something new.

Trying new and different types of books is just what this group was created for. I know it helped me broaden the types of books I'm willing to try. Sometimes it's a hit, sometimes it's a miss, but I'm never in a reading rut because of this.

Mirielen de Arantes Corrêa (mirielenarantes) I'm reading Twice In A Lifetime and The Plus One Let's see what else I can read this month

Ashley (ashleym99) I just finished What I Didn't See and Other Stories, I am now reading Farthing. This is another different type of book for me so I will see how this one goes.
