I loved this book, it was a real eye opener and I've reread it this year. But I don't think it's a book for you because you seem a strong woman without problems with your husband and I also think you had a good relation with your parents. In my opinion this book helps a lot if a woman has problems of self-esteem or has been a victim of psychological abuse by parents, relatives or men (in poche parole, per chi ha subito un lavaggio del cervello da quando era piccola e non ha potuto sviluppare una crescita armoniosa ed equilibrata).
I gave it last year to my niece, she is only 13, but I told her to read it whenever she wants because it could also help to be careful because the boogyman can be everywhere and sometimes he's dressed up like a Prince Charming. It's an important book for women and if read as a teen it could help to avoid a lot of problems and inner struggles.

Leslie | 16369 comments I might sit down after the holiday and see if I can make a second square from books I have already read this year... but that "book that scares you" square is a problem for me.

I see you read True History of the Kelly Gang -- and gave it 4*. Was it really scary?

message 25: by LauraT (new)

LauraT (laurata) | 14362 comments Mod
More than scary it was confusiong; I confess that I kept on reading only because it was given me as a present by a dear collegue of mine and I didn't want to delude her. Otherwise I would have been probably "scared away" from it by the first 100 pages: by the language, the complexity of the plot ...
