Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Ok Teamies, based just on the books that have been entered on the Bingo cards I am thinking that card 3 is actually going to be the best. I think after I rearrange my books we will have at least one bingo.

Let me know if you disagree. :D And for those of you who have already claimed spaces I have moved them over to card 3.

Good call, that looks much better! I'm hoping to be able to do a 4th book next week, I will look at the card when I get through my first 3 and know for sure and try to complete a bingo then too

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments I feel so bad but I don't think I can finish Wilder Girls until the BOM deadline :( I find it so hard to get into as I'm not used to the writing style yet and I'll be in the Netherlands a couple of days next week and don't wanna bring my physical copy with me :(

message 655: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments also, it kinda sucks that we have 3 parts of ttvii going on at the same time as each book we read only counts toward one part...

I will most likely start (and finish) The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and the audiobook of Bird Box for a readathon next week, and they're both on the bad books list, but obviously we would get more points if we could use them for finishing something in the Avarice mini 😩

no worries, about Wilder girls, it still counts as a sin bingo.

Are you going to finish Mr. Darcy? I will need the links to 3 messages so that I can submit it, thanks!!

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1978 comments So we're sitting at 22 books read right now. I've got at least one more that I'm going to knock out before the deadline and if I get any sort of luck I'll try to squeeze in a 2nd.

But remember we need to get to 30 to not be in trouble on our reads. Hopefully some of you had a few books still working that we can get done and reported in time. I know we can do it!

I am working through my 4th one right now, I am thinking I can finish it today, it will be tomorrow at the latest. I can try to cram in a quick one too, I have a 160 pager that I think I can fit in if we need more numbers!

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Alrighty, I wrote a second story because it looks like we are going to read enough books for two stories. Check it out and let me know what you think, I had to be creative with the prompts.

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments I'll finish 50 Shades of Mr. Darcy tonight so we can use it for both Lust minis :) will post the links once I'm done

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Ashley wrote: "Does this have enough pink or purple in it to count for cover color? Diamond Fire (Hidden Legacy, #3.5) by Ilona Andrews"

Yes for Purple, I would use it as that because it is worth more there than for the mini challenge :D

Mamacita aka MawMaw (mamawantsbedtimestory) | 441 comments What could Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas count for besides woman?

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Mamacita wrote: "What could Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1) by Sarah J. Maas count for besides woman?"

I didn't see this and replied on the other thread first. They ride horses, there is a king, and money or wealthy would work as well as the antagonist is very rich.

I mentioned using King because that is not always an easy find. :D

Thank you. I'm havubg a hard time w/ this challenge because I'm not sure what will actually count & what is a stretch. I found the word More in the blurb. 🤷‍♀️

For King, It said in the blurb he is a crown prince.
So it doesn't have to be MC?

the king is the prince's father and he is a major player in the book and no, doesn't need to be MC.

If you already haven't, please claim a few words on Bingo card 3. :D I have the words we are most focused on outlined.

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1978 comments Totally off topic - But if anyone's interested, I'm part of an incredible Secret Santa Book exchange here on GR. Sign-ups are almost over for the year, but if anyone's interested in participating let me know and I'll send you an invite to the group. We always have over 150 people participate each year and it's a ton of fun with a $15 cap on spending so you don't break the bank, but get some fun new books to add to your collection. Also this isn't limited to the states, it is a global exchange. :)

message 675: by Christina (new)

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments I already signed up 3x for another secret santa book exchange, sorry x)

message 676: by Shelby (last edited Nov 11, 2019 01:26AM) (new)

Shelby (stang_lee) | 1978 comments Just an FYI - I marked in red the categories that people have claimed on the 3rd card that might be able to be moved if a line is better on one of the other two Bingo cards. So feel free to look at all 3. :)

It definitely behooves us to try to finish one complete card, but just in case we can't maybe another line will be gained on a different card.

Also - since we get 5pts for each book for this challenge we definitely want to go mini-challenge first unless it's a Sin Bingo. (So Sophie, yes please give us that quote. ;))

Christina (chrissy__) | 3008 comments I might be able to cover Treasure as there's a book mentioned in The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas which is called Treasure Island!

For Boy in the Striped Pajamas On Pg 34. (depending on version “There should be cows, and pigs and sheep and horses”

We could use that for horse and that would put us closer to a bingo :D

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Hey Team, Now that all the stories are in we are able to vote on them. Here are the Stories for you to read and then here is the Link to vote on stories. There are some very funny and creative stories out there to vote for. No one will shame you if you don't vote for ours, lol. You gotta vote for what you consider the best stories to be.

Honestly given the example we had I didn't realize we had so much leeway with the prompts, so sorry to let you all down with the stories. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

message 680: by Melissa (last edited Nov 11, 2019 07:17AM) (new)

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Also, please keep an eye out for the word Champagne when you are reading. Or if you see it on a cover.

As of now, we have 1 bingo once we complete the claimed books but if we find a book with champagne in it then we would have 2 bingos.

message 683: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Hey May, for your book The Great Pretender, the cover needs to be over 50% yellow and there isn't enough yellow on this cover BUT we can use it for wealthy:

Pg 30: …”cherry-picked their patients - mostly wealthy, white, and not very sick.”

Are you able to double check this quote, it is towards the bottom.

Sorry about that! I listened to the audiobook, so I can't confirm the page until I pop into work tomorrow. For now I'll assume it's alright and change it.

your vanishing book worked for princess. Let's use Pandemonium for Mighty:

message 694: by JanEyre9 (new)

JanEyre9 Hey all. I wasn't on much this weekend, was spending some quality family time (took my daughter to see her first Broadway show, Frozen was magical!). I am way out of the loop about the Bingo game and am confused about where to jump in. Are we focusing on Card #3? How do I claim a word? Thanks!

message 695: by Melissa (new)

Melissa Reads (minxreadsalot) | 2485 comments Hey Jan, yes, we are focusing on card 3. There is a tab marked avarice bingo cards and that is where you would claim a word.

You just highlight the word in the color of your choice, you’ll see what we did on the top to claim the color and then you just claim a word.

If you aren’t sure, tell me what books you want to read and I will look them up and see what they could fit.

If you have books that are sin bingos we would still use them as a bingo.

Nice! I hope you enjoy it. I tried to read it once and just couldn't. I had to abandon it. Don't know if I was in the wrong mood but I am never really a YA fan and that book wasn't for me lol.
