Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion
Tower Teams VII
>
Team Voracity

There is a tab for each of you and there is also a tab with the current sin bingos that have been discussed. If you look at my page all the way at the end you will see how I intended it to be used. Feel free to change fonts etc on your tab to make it yours. Like I said, this is for planning purposes only.
Shelby will be adding a spreadsheet that will be for reporting books completed. In the meantime, I will send you a link via PM with the spreadsheet.
KINGA - can you please friend me so that I can send you the link. I can't PM you for some reason. Thanks!!

Thank you Minx for your help.
3. I am ok with calling it brown as long as it is Bingo book. :D
4. I am not sure if I will read this one. I am not really in a mood for it, but I picked it from my TBR because it looked green. So I will focus on others.

Can we combine it with our tracking sheet once we get it though? I already have way too many tabs open in Chrome and I would hate to have yet another ss to keep track of. I'd prefer to have everything we need in one place. I hope that's okay.

Question is it okay for multiple members of the team to read the same book that is a sin Bingo and all of them count as Sin bingos? Or can only one person claim the sin bingo?
Do you what us to let you know what books we are planning to read on the sin bingo list?
Such as in my planning the books I had planned to read for my sin bingo is

by using the binge criteria

Also are you needing us to fill out each book we read and the spreadsheet instead of making a post? How exactly do you want us to claim our book?

Q1: All members can read the same book if we'd like, all the books would count for Sin Bingos.
Q2: I think at the start of the week we should list what books we are planning on reading in the BOOKS READ thread that I had created and is hyperlinked in message 2.
I know that the thread says books read BUT I was thinking since we will be posting our books read on a spreadsheet that we could use this thread to put the books we as a team plan to read for the week on this thread
My thought on that is that I can check the books at the start of the week and make sure that the books chosen work BEFORE you spend the time reading them all just to learn that they might not work for an obscure reason.
That way we can keep this thread for general chat and questions and that one for once a week posts about what we plan on reading for the week.
Q3: Hmmm, the 2 red books would work for a Lust Bingo and the Pink book would work for a Gluttony Bingo BUT the Blue book would not work for a bingo because blue books have to fit the Sloth criteria and that book does not have a top shelf of Dark Fantasy:
◈ Sloth
- Color: Blue
- Genre: Dark Fantasy
- Criteria: Books that have been on your TBR for at least 2 years. Books from authors that take a long time to write the next installment on a series (Yes Patrick Rothfuss, George R.R. Martin and Abigail Roux we're looking at you!). Books from a series that you put on hold and are taking a long time to get back to it.
Q4: Yes, we will be providing a spreadsheet to log books instead of posting to a thread. The claiming of a book is discussed in my answer to Q2.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

Envy but it is part of a series of that needs to be read in order
Sorry, I should have clarified. If anyone has a green cover book that meets the 2 criteria for a bingo but they aren't sure if anyone from another team has read the book, please let me know and I will see if I can find out
This book would work for a Green Cover book but not a bingo. The Bingos have to meet all the criteria for that sin. Example:
◈ Envy
- Color: Green
- Genre: Young Adult
- Criteria: Books that members from other teams have read (during 2019)
This book does not meet the genre of Young Adult.
I will add my explanation of a Sin Bingo below to help with this:
A Sin Bingo is when a book does all 3:
1. The book cover is more than 50% the color of the sin
2. The genre of the sin can be found on the first page of the book's Top shelves
3. It fits the criteria that describes the sin.
An example of a Lust Bingo:
Lover Mine

This book cover is Red, It has a top shelf of guilty pleasure & it fits the criteria of steamy.
This book is a Sin Bingo.

This is probably a longshot, has anyone read this one

ooh, I loved that book!! I asked the other Captains to see if anyone has read it. I don't think so but it never hurts to check. I will let you know what I find out. :D

I already did.

why are we not just posting our planned reads here so we can talk about them here as well? I'm sorry, I really don't wanna be a pain, but why is this suddenly getting so complicated 🙈

The spreadsheet is for planning and documenting books. This thread is for discussions. When you are done reading a book you can absolutely post it here for discussion.
Even in other teams they are using their dedicated "books read" thread only for documenting books read, not for discussions.
So, really what we are doing is essentially the same as everyone else.

Nice!

didn't you say you wanted us to post our planned reads for the week in the Books Read thread?
and since we do have that Books Read thread now (which I wasn't aware we would get) there's technically no need for the reporting sheet then?

Ok, lets clear this up. :D
The Team Voracity thread is for all things bookish.
The spreadsheet planning tabs is for everyone to put their books for planning purposes if they would like to, totally optional. I created that for those who would like to use it.
The tab for posting completed books was how Shelby intended all books be posted.
I asked for the books read thread before Shelby had created the spreadsheet. So instead of deleting the thread I thought to use it for stating which books we intend to read that week. Posting planned reads was more as just a weekly check in on book numbers to make sure that we are not over reading or under reading books.
It can be as simple as "I plan to read 1 book this week" Or "I plan to read 1 book this week and that book is..... and I think it works as a ......." The more detailed an answer is so that before you read the book we could check to make sure it works. Again up to you.
So, the only thing you actually need to do for this challenge is let us know how many books you intend to read at the beginning of the week so we can check our numbers and then report the books to the spreadsheet once done.
Using the spreadsheet for planning purposes is for your benefit and possibly your teammates if they want to pop in and see what books work for what tasks to see if they might want to read it.

I added my personal planning sheet to our working one since I already had everything important there (also things I might need to know/remember for other challenges or readathons)
I also added a tab for the BOMs where everyone can add their names for the BOMs they plan to participate in. I hope that's okay. I'm just slightly spreadsheet obsessed and also need all the information! lol!
I didn't know the official page count for Save The Date though, and when the BOM discussions end (I know they go for one month, but I don't know whether the end date is exactly one month later, or one month minus one day, you know?)
can you please find out whether this counts for a yellow cover?

Oh Christina I love the BOM page, its so pretty! Yes that was a great idea.
I would call the cover yellow but I will check for you. :D

hahahah I just copied the BOM page from the official team ss and changed it a little bit to make it easier to work with x)

The blue one was listed on your spreadsheet as a SB.
@Mamacita, re your Bad Books Recomendations, Can you go back and pick three, please, with your reasons. The others can go as honourable mentions, if you wish :)

That version is not. It has to be this version:
The Viscount Who Loved Me

The red cover version is a Sin Bingo. If you read the blue covered version it wouldn't count. So when you read it make sure you are tagging the correct version.

Yes, this book counts as yellow :D

Make sense? If you read the wrong version it won't count and that would make me feel just awful. Another reason why having a chat the start of a week would be helpful for all :D

awesome! that's the book my friend lent me over a year ago already and I should finally get to it now! :D
what about

oh and I kind of spontaneously booked a little trip to Germany next week, so I'll be gone for 3 days - Tuesday to Thursday. I'll most likely be able to check in from my phone, but won't be able to add links and stuff. and I'm already wondering whether I should take a physical book with me or my ipad. the ipad needs less space, but is also heavier than most paperback books, and I'll only be travelling with a backpack! but what if I BUY more books when there? (and let's be real, can I ever walk past a bookstore without strolling inside?) oh man, there's so much to consider xD

lol, walk past a bookstore without buying something? Is that even possible??
I'm checking about the A Stranger in the House book but on the Becoming book that is a no. Michelle takes up more room than the background.
Also, yes the countdown starts 10/07/19 at 7am AEST and as soon as they have an official countdown clock we will add a link here. I am sure they will do it soon. :D

In regards to your A Stranger in the House book, they decided it wasn't blue or green enough so it would be a no to either color.

No. I didn't. But whoo Hoo!
"That would be awesome!"
*in sing-song

No, the current BOMs would not count because they were started before October 7, 2019.
This is a good point. ONLY books started after the start time for this challenge will be counted. So, makes sure you finish all your current reads before the challenge starts.
Here is a countdown calendar. It is not the official one but allows you to change the clock on the right to your current timezone to give you a start time. Hope this is helpful.

JUST KNOW to make things complicated that On October 06, 2019 that Australia In all areas with time changes, clocks are set forward by 1 hour from 02:00 (2 am) to 03:00 (3 am) local time.
Soooo, that is probably why there is not an official time start countdown, lol. When that calendar is up I will link it. Just MAKE SURE before you start that you confirm the correct time.
Sorry, daylight savings is beyond my control, lol.

Thx Minx! That's super helpful!

Where I live we don't do daylight savings, lol. It's weird to me not to adhere to it :D

Thanks!

Two Can Keep a Secret is what you would expect with YA suspense. I think it would be cool for you. It was a DNF for me but honestly this is because me and YA are in a continual love hate relationship and this story has plenty of YA drama (for me). I will read the other one for sure.
I'll definitely give it a whirl!
