message 762: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) I am in Quebec city. I should have about a meter high of snow on my yard an instead I am back to seeing patches of grass. While I hate winter, i would rather have snow than rain (as it will turn into very slippery ice).

message 763: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 5067 comments I agree!!!! if it's going to be cold...definitely should have snow!!!

message 764: by Dragana (new)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Light Teams! I have challenged Sonia (and her Darkness teams) to a dual! Be sure you get a book in each category of none of your books will count towards the Light total.

Sonia!
I challenge you to a read-a-thon duel!
The powers of Light against the powers of Darkness

Between January 3 and January 18 let's see who can read more books. The Light teams or the Darkness teams.
The only rule is that each team must read at least one book from every page count category:
-between 100 and 160 pages
-between 161 pages and 450 pages
-between 451 and 600 pages
-between 601 and 750 pages
-between 751 and 900 pages
-over 901 pages

Not only will the winning element will have bragging rights, but if Light wins then Sonia will need to change her goodreads picture to an light image; and if Darkness wins then Kelly will need to change her goodreads picture to an darkness image.

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Hi Kelly!

I mini challenge is a great way to motivate us to stay focused on the competition. Thanks!!

I'm only not sure if I get it right.
Do we have to complete all the page count category so our books count?
Can we complete it more than one time?
Does the books must be started after January 3 or only finished?
Can one person read more than one category?

message 770: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments So team, let's organize!!

Who wants/can do each page count category??

I can take: between 100-160 pages and between 161-450 pages, or between 601-750 pages.

message 771: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments I have just now finished a book of 150 pages that fit Between 100-160 pages.

Summer of Change (The Springs, #1) by Elena Aitken Summer of Change by Elena Aitken 150 pages

Unfortunately all the books I have planned for January will fall in the 161-450 level.

I do have Tiger's Curse (The Tiger Saga, #1) by Colleen Houck Tiger's Curse by Colleen Houck

My edition is hardback and says 506 pages but there are editions that are only 403 pages so I will need a ruling on that one.

message 772: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Great Jane!

Lets wait to hear from Kely about that difference count pages between editions.

message 773: by Esther (new)

Yes I've heard of the song. My brother was an Iron Maiden fan back in the day. When I was 10 he locked me in a room and made me listen to Iron Maiden, Ozzy Osbourne, and the Scorpians because he thought my taste in music sucked. He wouldn't let me out till I could recite a couple lines from some of the songs I heard...Ahhh..Memory Lane!

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Juliana wrote: "Hi Kelly!

Do we have to complete all the page count category so our books count?
Yes. You must have a book in each of them or you don't count any of the books read towards the book total for the light teams.

Can we complete it more than one time?
Yes. It's total number of books read as long as there's one in each category.

Does the books must be started after January 3 or only finished?
Just finished between the 3rd and 18th.

Can one person read more than one category?
Yup, but only need one to qualify for points to count.

So... recommendation is to read one in each category then break out the mini 100 page books :)

Once you complete each page range you can read whatever you want for points. It's not rounds. You just need one in each range to have your points count.

So you can do one of each then read all 100 page books after that and get all the points.

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments I'll try to read a book for the 751-900 pages, but I'll probably finish it at the end of this read-a-thon.

So the rest of the team should read as many books as then can until the 18th.

Lets go Lightning Hounds! We can't have Darkness winning Light!!
