Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I'll try to read something more, but since I need to read like 800 more pages in 'Way of Kings' I can't promise anything.

That's ok Dragana, you already have a lot to read with 'Way of Kings'.

Foundation is one of the classic I always plan to read (and somehow never really read). How was it? Am I missing a lot?

BTW I am nearing 50% with my 900+ book. :)

Yes. You must have a book in each of them or you don't count any of the books read towards the boo..."

I have definitely brought out the short books :-)
my last four books are between 100 and 234 pages.

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Hi team!!!

How is everyone going?

Rose, don't worry. Exams are more important, but I'm glad you are back. :)

Way to go Jane!

And Dragana, Asimov is my favorite author. I love how he embedded his scifi works with incites about the human spirit, prejudices and society.
Foundation has a strong political side, but is also very entertaining and quite short. The plot basically follows the survival of a colony in a far away planet during some decades. I found it super interesting.
I think you should give it a try. :)

And we are in our 10th week of the challenge! Wow

I know that the novelty of our competition has faded but we still can have some fun together. ;)

Right now we are battling against DARKNESS in a read-a-thon, and we have already read 29 books!!

We still have one more week to go, so lets continue our pace and finish some more books. :)

Catherine | 5067 comments I know this is a challenge....but I really think people were unfairly placed on teams....how is it possible for teams to be so far apart in points! i'm not complaining about where we are...but even the teams at the bottom are sooo far behind, there is no way for them to catch up!

Sometimes I have the same feeling Catherine, but I believe that the mods tried their best on making the teams.
Some people could keep up a really fast pace, while others had life in the way, or whatever other reason and couldn't contribute as much as they previously thought.
One thing that give a lot of points and some teams are taking advantage of it is BOM and BRs participations.
I particularly don't have a habit to do BRs, although I liked it. And it's hard for me to participate in most of the BOMs because or I'm not interested in reading that book in that moment or my library don't have it (I can't buy all the books).
A couple of teams that are ahead of us have less 'reading points' than us, but compensate that with BOM and BRs points.

But, please, don't feel discouraged.
We can try some fun games or discussion here in our thread to have more interaction and make our challenge more enjoyable.

I agree with you, I read a book for BOM and did DQs and it was 80 points instead of just 20. But as you said I just am not interested in all the books to read them or buy them.

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Updating two spreadsheet was too much work, so I'm continuing with just the official spreadsheet from now on.

TowerTeams - Lightning Hounds Spreadsheet

Right now, we are in 17th place with a total of 8940 points (8420 from books + 520 from Saving Christmas), apart from the Light X Darkness challenge.

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments The powers of Light against the powers of Darkness
Read-a-thon duel!!

The read-a-thon is running until January 18!!!

Here is the current situation:

LIGHT Teams = 112 points
- Lightning Hounds: 38 books in 4 categories
- Lightning Crafter: 32 books in 2 categories
- Spirit Wavers: 42 books in 4 categories

DARKNESS Teams = 139 points
- Elves of Deep Shadow: 29 books in 5 categories
- Ring Wraiths: 52 books in 5 categories
- Scions of the Dark: 58 books in 6 categories

Remember that we have to complete all 6 categories to have our points validated.

Obs.: The points used was the status from yesterday deadline. That's why our numbers that I passed in the previous message are a little higher (I updated again the spreadsheet).
