Lightning Hounds

I have finished another 3 books.

Finished:
The Kite Runner | Khaled Hosseini | 15Jan2015 | 371 pages | 20 Points

We have reached 57 books for this read-a-thon duel.
We still have a couple of days.
So lets read!!!

Esther, I would say no. Mostly because of the way we consider a book finished in GoodRead and in the challenge.
GR will only consider it finished when you read all pages. So we can only count 'omnibus' as 1 book.
My advice is to you use different editions. One for the first book and a second and independently edition for the second book. That way both books would be count as individual things for GR, and the challenge.
@Kelly, did I understand it right?

And with that we have completed all the 6 requisites for the duel. All of our books will count!!!
Right now we have 60 books read!!
Great work team!!
But we still have more couple of hours to tackle down some more books.

I cannot edit posts on my phone, but I finished Red Herring without Mustard yesterday. I will edit my post as soon as i get on a computer. Probably tonight.

Good to know Agnès, thanks!!

This book is on my top 5 favorite books of all time

Stressful, but much better now that I'm home."
I'm glad your day is getting better. :)

I also noticed that achieved the mark of 10090 points!! And jumped two positions. Now we are in 16th.
From the Status spreadsheet I think we won the read-a-thon duel, but lets wait the mods announce the winner.
Great job, everyone!!!

Finished:
The Shining | Stephen King | 23Jan2015 | 659 pages | 70 Points
Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore | Robin Sloan | 23Jan2015 | 288 pages | 20 Points

From Wiki
Australia Day is the official national day of Australia. Celebrated annually on 26 January, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British Ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales, and raising of the Flag of Great Britain at that site by Governor Arthur Phillip. In contemporary Australia, celebrations reflect the diverse society and landscape of the nation, and are marked by community and family events, reflections on Australian history, official community awards, and citizenship ceremonies welcoming new immigrants into the Australian community

See how many items you can find!
The items need to form part of the book title, author name, character name, or be an image on the cover, or occur somewhere in the story of the book you are reading.
Your team will get 5 points for each item found (one item per book), and if more than 75% of your team members find an item, you will get a bonus 30 points!
Note:Individuals can only find each item once, but multiple people on a team can find the same item. So if two people on the team read a book with a dog on the cover, both would claim 5 points, but that same person couldn't then claim "dog" again

I am not sure about items occurring somewhere in the story. Does it have to be prominent or do I just search ebook for that word appearing anywhere in the text?
Catherine wrote: "question....for places....ie..Britain....does that mean only the word or the actual place as a setting? and why isn't Australia up there?"
It could be either
And...lol...yes I probably should have added our country name, Oh well!

⚑ So far what we have is.
- A quote from the book with the word marked counts.
"It overlooked downtown on one side, and the Atlantic Ocean on the other with beach access and a sweeping porch made for watching sunsets. | 'link to the book | page or location found | date finished
- Individuals can only find each item once, but multiple people on a team can find the same item. So if two people on the team read a book with a dog on the cover, both would claim 5 points, but that same person couldn't then claim "dog" again.
- Books set in a place (for example Great Britain) but the setting isn't mentioned anywhere in the book, does still count for Britain. (But you have to be able to guess the location based on the story).

This way it'll be easier for me to update the spreadsheet.

This is going to be fun and a great way to pile up some points. :)

The spreadsheet is in now if you wanted to take a look.
