Trinity - thanks for sorting the link for me!
I'm working a 12 hour shift today and then tomorrow will be spent doing chores round the house/sleeping in a heap somewhere.

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Hi guys! Welcome Jane! And thanks all for the shelves. :)

Today I'm going with my husb to a park in the city, to enjoy a little break from the rain. But tomorrow I'll probably cozy inside home and read a lot. :)

Good weekend to all. :D

message 63: by Trinity (new)

Trinity No problem, Sophie! ☺ And I hope you are able to relax tomorrow.

Oh that sounds like a lot of fun, have a good weekend to you too Juliana! ☺

message 64: by Dragana (last edited Oct 25, 2014 04:52AM) (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I don't have any special plans for the weekend. Going shoping with husband / little baby son and visiting some friends. So, Sophie, you'll have to find some else for something exciting. :D

message 65: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Hi team!! Those who lives in Europa enjoyed their one more hour of sleep today?

Has anyone thinking about join a Buddy Read during the Challenge? I'm going to try it out, and I was thinking and ask for those who will to tell me what book and date so I can track it for count their points.

So, if you'd like to participate in a buddy read, here is a master thread where the next are being record and request are being discussed.

And, if you enter any, please let me know.

A lovely Sunday to all!

message 66: by Lilac (new)

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 127 comments Yes I did! Although it's half term so it doesn't make much difference to me at the moment.

I'm going to try and read Crime and Punishment on the 12th of November if I manage to get a copy of the right translation.

message 67: by Trinity (new)

Trinity I did too! My buddy read is for Deadly Little Lies on December 6. ☺

message 68: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) I posted on the buddy read request thread last night. No taker yet I will let you know.

I will see what other buddy reads pops up and see if i can join. My access to books in English is somewhat limited and i getting a specific title quicly is rarely possible.

I have Ready Player One and Big Little Lies on hold and maybe i will get them in time. Or i will pop up later and hope someone join me.

message 69: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Great girls! I confess that I'm quite excited to participate in a BR, but don't you fell pressure to do it too.
Lets have fun during the challenge.

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Hey Esther, do you think setting up a early December start date for Ready Player One would work for you or is it hard to guess right now? How long can you keep your books out of the library? I really want to work with your schedule since it's harder for you to get books with the waiting list and your access to English books being so limited.

Fit's guessing. I would guess mid-nov, but honestly, i do not know. When i see them coming, i put a hold and suspend it but not in this case. :)
As i said, go ahead and set a date and i will make it sonner or later. :)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments Okay, I'll choose something within the first week or two of December, after I figure out what all I'm planning to read that month. Will update the RPO buddy read thread with the pertinent info when I've decided.

The extra hour today has been wonderful! Yesterday was hectic, and not helped by scratching my car on the way home. Everyone else's weekends sound nicely relaxed.

Lilac - enjoy half term!

Buddy reads I'll join in as and when. Frustrated because I've read 2 of the BOMs already for this month. Will try to join in the questions and conversations anyway.

You're welcome to join in the conversations. We often have people stop by who have already read the book and offer their comments. They typically just stay away from questions asking predictions for the rest of the book since they've already read it. The more the merrier with BOM's :)

message 75: by Jane (new)

Jane | 705 comments I knew about the change in time but I completely forgot about it. That meant it took me a couple of minutes this morning to figure out why my two alarm clocks had different time. ( one is radio controlled and therefore had changed)

Sorry I don't do buddy reads but I will make sure I read a lot and have fun.

message 76: by ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (last edited Oct 26, 2014 01:57PM) (new)

ilovebakedgoods (Teresa) (ilovebakedgoods) | 226 comments I don't think we had a time change here... not sure. I lost power at 3 am and all the digital clocks have been screwed up, but the clock with hands matches the computer time.

But where does each one of you dwell ?

I am in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (East Coast - US) as of now.

Catherine | 5067 comments NJ....ugh...only thing good about this spot is the proximity to NY..lol

message 81: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Morning!!

@Apoorv, I'm currently living in Oslo, Norway. But I'm from Brazil.

message 82: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Yes, I love that extra hour. :)

I plan to participate in buddy read but didn't decided which one yet. At the beginning in this challenge I will also participate in some speedy version of bingo so expect me to read a lot of short books. But when it's over I am going to check out buddy reads and read some chunksters I saved for this challenge. :)

Obviously I'm from Europe. Small country called Serbia. Probably most of you didn't even heard about it. Although lately in movies it's a trend to have Serbian not Russian mobsters, so maybe you did. :D

message 83: by Sophie, The other one (new)

Sophie (drsophie) | 5687 comments Mod
Thanks Kelly.

I always get confused by the fact that most of the clocks change automatically and when I look in the morning it seems like either I've woken up a lot early or a lot later than normal (depending on whether it's autumn or spring).

I live in London. Brazil to Oslo seems like a very long way to have moved Juliana.

message 84: by Lilac (new)

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 127 comments I live in Wales, which is that little country to the left of England that everyone always forgets about!

message 85: by Jane (last edited Oct 27, 2014 01:45AM) (new)

Jane | 705 comments I live in Denmark, so I guess Juliana and I are neighbors :-)

@ Juliana, yes I was quite impressed with you as I saw that on your currently reading there is a Spanish, a Norweigian, and an English book. I have also travelled in Brazil but that was 25 years ago.

@ Lilac. No, no, no how can anybody forget Wales. Loooooong words that are unpronounceable and then my mother in law is from Wales and lives in England close to the border. And I of course love your Welch dragon.

@ Dragana. Being from Europe I know of Serbia of course but I know nothing about it.

message 86: by Lilac (new)

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 127 comments Wow that's amazing Juliana, I'd love to be able to read books in that many languages. Actually I've bought a Harry Potter book in French to try to learn more but I only understand about every other word.

message 87: by Lilac (new)

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 127 comments Ah yes, like Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. Haha it was one of the schoolyard challenges to learn to say that word in primary school :)

message 88: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) Hello Team,
I am in Quebec City.

@Dragana, i worked in Serbia for a few months, years ago. So i know it.

@Lilac, what a name! You made me google it. Et courage pour le Harry Potter.

message 89: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) @Lilac Whenever someone mentions Wales I think about green fields and hills. Never been there but it sounds lovely. Even you do have weirdest names for towns ever. :)

@Jane No biggie. Ask if you are interested in anything. :)

@Esther What a coincidence. What did you do? If it's not as super secret agent and you can't tell us. :D

We seem to be all over the place. It's going to make interesting discussions. :)
I've got an idea. To get to know each other countries, maybe we could ask a question about something and then the rest of us would answer. For example - specific sweets, food, sights or whatever you think that it's interesting in your country.
I think that could be interesting. :)

message 90: by Lilac (new)

Lilac (lilac_wales) | 127 comments Thanks Esther :)

I think that's a really good idea Dragana, they'd be fun to answer and interesting to learn more about the other countries.

LOL Nothing that glamorous. It was a student summer job. I worked at Petnica Science center.

As for questions... Ask away...

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Esther wrote: "LOL Nothing that glamorous. It was a student summer job. I worked at Petnica Science center. "

It's a small world (or small country lol). I worked at Petnica as a lecturer on some IT courses. :)
Sadly, I worked with teachers (educating old teachers how to use computers) not with teens. Still it was fun.
I hope you had a nice time while you were there. :)

message 94: by Juliana (last edited Oct 27, 2014 04:28AM) (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments @Dragana and @Lilac I can not know much about your countries, but I do know they are out there :)

@Sophie yes indeed, it was a huge change moving to Norway.

So @Jane we do are practically neighbors. :)
I can read in Portuguese and English and I'm trying to learn Norwegian - that's why sometimes a children book in Norwegian appears in my feed.

Also, the idea to exchange informations about our countries is pretty good!

In Brazil we generally like our candies very sweet and we love chocolate so our traditional candy for children birthday parties are 'brigadeiro' - a cooked mixture of chocolate/cocoa powder, butter and condensate milk. I love it!!
