Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Sophie, for now I don't think we can count your points for the BR in The Maze Runner because nobody interacted with you yet. (Kelly could you tell us if I'm getting this right? Here post is here.)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Esther, could you pass me the links for your two buddy read (1st to Die; and A Discovery of Witches)?

Consulting. Will get back to you shortly.

Juliana - that's fine; I'm waiting til someone interacts with me before adding any points for that; just put it on the list so that I remember to keep checking. It's the Code Name Verity points that I was wondering about, but Kelly's now solved that one I think.

I've offered to do some of the DQ's for the Ruby Red BOM. Will be reading it either way.

Currently I'm listening to The Crossing Places which I'm really enjoying. Trying to guess who did it is proving surprisingly complicated. If I haven't already I'll add a link of mine from the discussion thread.

Am reading The Duke which is part of a challenge from another group. It's taken a bit of time to get into, but I'm enjoying the twist it's put on a Regency Romance.

Ok Sophie, I just said so we could pay attention to it.

Great that you are doing DQ's for Ruby Red, when you read it let me now if you like it. I heard mixed things about this series.

Finally got round to posting something about The Maze Runner in the re-awakening BR thread... Might be a non-issue in a bit!

Trinity - well done! I keep entering them and not winning... Going to keep going until I'm successful.

What did you think of Neverwhere? This reminds me that I should start Anansi Boys at some point. It's been neglected on my shelf for far too long.

message 367: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) I am in a reading slump this week. Nothing seems to fit my mood. I started and abandoned 5 or 6 books.. So I will not be of much help. :(

message 368: by Juliana (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Morning guys!! Anyone will see Mockingjay - Part 1 this weekend? I'm very excited but I think I'll let to watch it next week as a birthday present. :)

message 369: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) Good morning. :)
I think we will have to wait until we can watch it from home. (Grandparent are a bit reluctant to babysit so we are stuck at home until our boy is a bit more grown up.) I read the books, but my husband is talking about what will happen next for a year now. lol

message 370: by Rose (new)

Rose | 633 comments I'm at crunch time for grant writing (which is code for I hate my life and just want to curl up and read). The good news is, crunch time is happening because I'm heading out on vacation for a week, and I read like a crazy person on vacation. What is everyone else doing for Thanksgiving?

message 371: by Trinity (new)

Trinity I will be seeing Mockingjay this Saturday! Afterwards I will be heading to a Quinceñera for my friend. I hope it is good day that day!

I also just finished Opal (Lux, #3) by Jennifer L. Armentrout which loved!! ☺

message 372: by Juliana (last edited Nov 21, 2014 12:46AM) (new)

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments I don't have the habit of celebrating Thanksgiving, so for me it's a regular week. But the weather is awful (and I don't see any changes for better soon) so my time curled in my sofa reading will be considered high. :)

Enjoy the movie Trinity! I'm thinking on going to see Interstellar this weekend...

The spreadsheets are updated until here.

message 373: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) I am overbooked this weekend and next week. I just hope the movie will stay longer than this in English here. I cannot stand dubbed movies.

Thanksgiving was in October. :) It's history already. I sure could do with another 3 day weekend....

We got a feet of snow this week and it is still snowing, slowly but surely... let the reading time curled in my sofa begin.

message 374: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 5067 comments wow!! where are you Esther? 1 foot of snow? I wish I were there!! lol

message 375: by Catherine (new)

message 376: by Jane (last edited Nov 21, 2014 03:35AM) (new)

Jane | 705 comments @ Juliana
Interstellar is nearly 3 hours long but it does not feel like it. I saw it the day it came out in my local (read small) cinema and I enjoyed it a lot.

@ Rose
I really liked Neverwhere and it is funny that I seemed to remember so much from the BBC adaptation of it as it is quite a few years since I saw it. Now I want to see it again.

I don't celebrate Thanksgiving so this is just a normal week fo me as well.

message 377: by Dragana (new)

Dragana (diaryofthebookdragon) We don't celebrate Thanksgiving in my country so also just a regular week/month. :)

Finished The Diabolical Miss Hyde (Electric Empire, #1) by Viola Carr - interesting twist to dr.Jekyll and mr.Hyde story. I liked it although it's very dark tale...

message 378: by Esther (new)

Esther (nyctale) Catherine wrote: "wow!! where are you Esther? 1 foot of snow? I wish I were there!! lol"

I am in Quebec city... its only 1 foot, believe me. the snow usually piles up to 4 to 6 feet high by the end of the winter. And I hate it...

Going well!

I'm just updating as I've finished 2 books and started 2 new ones in their place.

Struggling with the audio of The Lady of the Rivers (The Cousins' War, #3) by Philippa Gregory . The narrator has a very upper class English accent and for some reason it's really grating on me. Is probably appropriate for the character, but not that easy to listen to.

Getting on much better reading Fool Moon (The Dresden Files #2) by Jim Butcher

Jane | 705 comments I am up to date with The Dresden Files and waiting impatiently for the next one.

I listened to the first one ages ago and for some reason didn't keep going with them... Decided it's time to pick it up again as I like a lot of similar(ish) series I've read.

If you enjoyed Dresden, a British take on it is Midnight Riot (Peter Grant, #1) by Ben Aaronovitch - involves PC taking on the magical world! The 4th (I think) has just come out and I'm excited to listen to it when my new audible credits come in - the narrator is fantastic!

Jane | 705 comments Sophie wrote: "If you enjoyed Dresd..."

Been there, done that. LOL

though I had forgotten it was now the fifth book was being published. I read the first two and listened to the next two. I am no longer member of audible so I think I will get it for Kindle.

While writing this I went and bought it.

And now an hour later I have returned the Kindle edition and bought the audible instead. I am sometimes hopeless making my mind up about things. :-)

Jane - that sounds like the type of thing I'd do! You'll have to let me know what you think about it - the blurb makes it sound like it'll be a bit different from what's gone before.
Am intrigued to see how the author deals with the shock of Leslie as well.

Rose - enjoy the break!

I haven't been to the cinema in ages - oddly tempted to go and see Paddington! Suspect I'm more likely to end up seeing the Imitation Game though as it's more my boyfriend's type of film.

Juliana Rodrigues (julianamfrodrigues) | 1748 comments Hi team!! We climbed three positions this week, so now we're on 13th place.
Here is the link for the ranking.

Good job everyone!!!

Welcome back Apoorv and I hope you can have a normal work journey this week.
Catherine don't worry too much about your reading pace. Savoury each book as you want it. ;)
Jane, I too like to read Christmas books this time of the year, but I have so many other books that I want to read still this year that I don't think I'll get to a themed story any time soon.

And I'll take a note for the next BR you guys'll participate.
