The Selection
question
How good was the book? And should I read it?

My sister said this was a good book, but my other sister said she couldn't stand the beginning. Is it a good book and should I read it?

The problem with this series is that the first book is great. Awesome. Adorable. Gorgeous. I loved it with all my heart. However, the next two, especially the next one, is not anywhere near it. They're not bad, but they have aspects that irked me to hell. But after the first one, you can't not read the next and then the next. Evil circle. All in all, despite everything, I do recommend it. :)
hey :) feel free to cheek out my THE SELECTION review :) thanks for your time https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Fbxq...

I totally agree. I stumbled through the first couple of chapters (reminded me too much of The Hunger Games at that point), but then really enjoyed the rest of the book. Now I'm page 43 of Elite and it's kind of annoying me. I'm trying power through but I already feel like the Aspen-America-Maxon triangle is annoying me.

This series is a really good series. I really enjoy these type of books, and my favorite books series ever is Matched. Okay America can get a little annoyingly indecisive, but I makes it all the more real. I absolutely loved this series and I absolutely recommend it.
i read a lot of books but honestly, i think that it is my favorite purely because of the relationship between america and maxon in the first book
This book is one of my favorites. It's an indulgent book, not a textbook that has so much traditionalish text. I loved this book and I was attracted to the series because of the idea. A 'royal bachelor lottery' , who doesn't love that?
Yes, it's amazing. I thought I would hate it because ROMANCE but when I forced myself to pick it up I was hooked within two pages and stayed that way for the whole series.
I would say it's totally worth it if you like romance/love triangles/girly, sappy stuff:)
The Selection series is one of my two favorite series ever. I loved how the characters interacted with each other. Sometimes, I admit, I wanted to scream at the main character but didn't want to wake my family when I was reading at four in the morning. I was said to myself 'after this chapter' about ten times! Loved the book.
I enjoyed it. It's not one of my favorites but it's still a good read. I liked it. It really is a cross between Hunger Games and the Bachelor and there's a lot of drama.
i enjoyed it - i think that there's something to be said about a dystopia + bachelor that makes it interesting. there's nothing thta takes it too far in terms of romance and just an overall good storyline. the first book is def worth the read and then go from there.
It's a great lighthearted read, I enjoyed it immensely, it's not overly complicated like say Hunger Games, nor is it trying to be the Hunger Games. If you want a fun story this is the one.
It's funny how everyone has basically negative things to say about the book/series but basically finishes up with, yes, read it. I have to agree though. The characters are mostly shallow and predictable, but it's a decent read. Sometimes it's nice to read about some sort of normal human teenager drama.
It's a quick and easy read. If you're looking for a book that is light and entertaining, a sort of a breather after reading highly intense and complex books, this is a good choice.

It's not difficult to read nor full of deeper significance, but it entertains well enough. It can be a little gaudy or clueless at times, but overall it was surprisingly good. It seemed more unique than some other books of the same genre and provided an interesting cast of characters. If you have the time, I'd say go for it.
It wasn't the best book(series) ever written, but I enjoyed it. I didn't think I would.
I say give it a chance. It's a pretty quick read.

But as I said somewhere else, there's no point in reading the series. You can just read the titles. So... the suspense failed utterly and I didn't read the rest of the series (the second book was also just awful. I got through maybe a chapter).
