Vaginal Fantasy Book Club discussion

Hello.

I was wondering if you guys could recommend me some first person written books? Preferably about witches/magic.

I'm currently reading Born Wicked by Jessica Spotswood but I'd like to make a list to read in the future :)

The Alex Craft series is pretty good. Not really VF material, but The Dresden Files are also quite good. But it takes a couple of books to really get going. I really enjoy both series.

I adore The Dresden Files! But yes, it's not romancy at all, more Urban Fantasy but oh, so much fun!

I'll also add:
(Cassandra Palmer series)... not exactly witches/magic but along those lines?

- granted, I'll admit this is written by a friend of mine, but I genuinely enjoyed the book and it does feature witch/magic (plus some 'extras')

First thing that comes to mind with Witches and first person is Kim Harrison's Hallow's series beginning with Dead Witch Walking which while it doesn't have too much romance until a little further in the series does have one of the most well planned and integrated alt-history worlds I have ever read.
Ilona Andrews's Edge series, beginning with On the Edge takes a different tact with magic but is downright awesome (as are all on Ilona Andrew's books.)
I also just finished G.L. Drummond's Discord Jones series, beginning with Arcane Solutions and it was a lot of fun.
If you are open to more of an urban fantasy vibe Benedict Jacka's Alex Verus series, beginning with Fated is also excellent.

kim harrison series is really interesting. worth taking a read. the romance is a bit messy but overall good

Suzanne Johnson's Sentinels of New Orleans series will meet that criteria. It's female protag is a wizard in post-Katrina New Orleans. Book 1 is Royal Street. (I don't remember any sexy times until maybe book 3.....)



Jaye Wells' The Prospero's War series might fit the bill. It's pitched as "The Wire with Wizards" and I've enjoyed the first two books. (No sexy times yet.)



Diana Rowland's Kara Gillian series might be stretch, but I highly recommend it. She's not a witch, but she is a demon summoner. (There is some pretty hot sex in the first book.)

The Diana Tregarde books by Mercedes Lackey. First in the series is Children of the Night. Diana is a witch who lives in New York and writes romance novels to pay the rent! Wonderful characters and even a bashful vampire! It's a favorite of mine.

You might also take a look at my new book, Chief-Thief. Not paranormal, but a tale of a consuming obsession and a thief who gets it all, including a cop's love!
