I have a book called "The story of Canada." It's a few years old now but lots of pictures and a good overview.

Hello Nissa! Great to have you here. Have fun and be sure to share some of your favorite wholesome reads. See you around!!
P.S. I like Second World War history as well, ;-)

Hi Greg, welcome to the group, what a great topis to write about!I also love reading about the Ancients, the Romans, the Greeks, etc. Some good books that I have recently read on those subjects were:
The Peloponnesian War by Donald Kagan
SPQR: A History of Ancient Rome by Mary Beard
Discovering Cyrus: The Persian Conqueror Astride the Ancient World by Reza Zarghamee

Hello Greg! Welcome to the group! Your book sounds interesting. Hope you have a great time with us. Enjoy, and I'll see you around!

Hello Beth! Thanks for joining WHRG! Great to hear that the "wholesome" theme piqued your interest. I hope you discover some awesome, new history reads!

I'm going to pop over to the Second World War section and suggest a new book by a close relative. I know it sounds suspicious, but I think it's timely and legitimate. Readers can make up their own minds about it. Thanks for the clear rules.
@Peter Hello there! (Sorry for the late response by the way! I'm traveling at the moment.) Great to have you with us! Glad to see you've found a group that suits your interests. Thanks again for joining, and we hope you'll discover some great history reads!

I love how well organized this page seems! Can't wait to make my way through all the sections in the discussion board :)
Hi Lisa, welcome to the group, I enjoy the same subjects you mentions and have just started reading Adrian Goldsworthy's new book on Roman history:

Rick, how are you liking the Pax Romana book so far? Adding it to my ever-growing wishlist, thanks for the recommendation.
It too me a few chapters to warm to it but I am enjoying it. Have you read Mary Beard's book SPQR? That's another book that too me a little bit of time to get into but then really enjoyed.
SPQR: A History of Ancient Rome by Mary Beard

I haven't read SPQR yet, but I do own the book! It's on my to-read pile. Heard good things about it!
I first want to go through all the Greek stuff I got lying around, before I move on to the Romans, haha. Just trying to think of a system to get through that big pile of books ;)
So much to read, so little time...

Let me add my welcome to the group
Welcome, Welcome!!
AR always seems to have an appropriate recommendation :)
