Alice (goodreadscomalicerene) Becoming Alice A Memoir

I just checked the rankings for my Amazon tags. Happy to tell you that Becoming Alice, A Memoir is #1 in two categories, Historical Non-fiction and Adversity, and it is #2 in the Categories of Self-esteem and Adversity. Yeah!

Svetlana Kovalkova-McKenna Congratulations! I actually saw your book on Amazon before and put a note to myself to come back to check it out later.
How do you check the tags ranking?

Keith Henry | 8 comments My first book's ranking is 1,807,895.

I'm gaining on you...!

;-)

Congratz!!!

Todd Fonseca | 489 comments Svetlana,
To check the "tag ranking" just click on the tag itself. So for example on Alice's Amazon book page, by clicking on the tag (The word itself) "Historical non-fiction" it opens the "historical non-fiction" customer community page on Amazon. There is lists discussions, products, etc.
For products it pulls up all of the books listed for this tag. Alice's is #1. Check it out here:

Alice (goodreadscomalicerene) I'm just back from vacation and am plowing through almost two hundred e-mails. Yikes! Now, I can't remember if I've thanked all you guys, specifically Yasheve, Maria, Holly, Keith, Svetlana,, and Todd for your "congratulations." Couldn't have done it without your help. Now the puzzle is ... what does the ranking do for your sales. I'll have to tell you in a month or two, I guess.

Thanks again, Alice

K.S.R. (kareyshane) | 16 comments That's great, Alice! So I have a question: I'm asking readers to tag Secret Speakers and the Search for Selador's Gate with the words, fantasy, fiction, and adventure. It's a YA fantasy novel, and I'm wondering if I should not use adventure and use young adult instead. Thoughts?

message 12: by Alice (new)

Alice (goodreadscomalicerene) Hi Karey, I just pulled uo your book on Amazon and tagged your choices, fantasy, fiction, and adventure. I noticed that the adventure ciommunity is huge. Not that young adult is no also pretty big. My choice was to find words for community that had a smaller number of "products" where you would have a better chance of moving higher in the ranking. For example, I have three communities, self-esteem, adversity, and historical non-fiction, in which I am ranked #1 or #2.
I'm trying to get higher in the memoir, WWII, and young adult communities. I'd appreciate your tagging my book, Becoming Alice, if you would. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1605...

Thank you and the best of luck to you.

Alice (goodreadscomalicerene) Carole,

I took your book, Ferryman, on vacation with me and read it from cover to cover. I was engrossed from beginning to end. Good job! Would you like me to write a review? I can put it wherever you like.

Regards, Alice

message 15: by Carole (new)

Carole (casutton) | 223 comments Alice, Would love you to write a review. You could put it on Amazon.com,that one has 11 of them,OR Amazon.co.uk -- only has 2,OR Barnes and Noble, they don't have any. And Goodreads, or course would be lovely.

Make your choice, or send the same one to all of them if you feel so inclined. ;>)Be aware you have to have bought one article (book) from them before they will accept a review. So, that might decide for you. If you want their URLs let me know.

I'm glad you enjoyed Ferryman. Hope you had a good holiday,
Carole

K.S.R. (kareyshane) | 16 comments Hi Alice, I tagged your book, and now I've added it to my TBR list. It looks wonderful. My son and I were in DC this year and went to the Holocaust museum, so this topic is dear to my heart. For many reasons.

J.C. Torre (jdelator) | 15 comments Cool!

I'm #1 in Atlantis, Ancient Astronauts and Prometheus and in the top 5 in Action adventure, Greek Gods, Mythology, contemporary fantasy.

The real prize would be the Fantasy category. Still three pages down in that one.

Alice (goodreadscomalicerene) Carole,

Consider it done ... some time this weekend. I'm so far behind in everything.

Best, Alice

message 19: by Alice (new)

Alice (goodreadscomalicerene) Karey, Thanks for the tag ... yours have already been done. Hope you like "Becoming Alice."

Best, Alice

Tagging is helpful, but apparently, some authors are purchasing 5 star reviews.

Angela Hoy has an interesting expose

I'm pretty sure that's illegal. I'm starting a new Review site: Christians Read: Books Review. I will give three's to five's. I'm not puffing up numbers. I just won't accept anything to review that I don't like that well. Why should I hurt anyone and anyone who's work is that bad is better off with the book unsung. They can go write a better one because I haven't ruined their reputation.

Kait Neese Mason (kaitneesemason) | 23 comments Hey everyone! My name is Kait and I am a author/marketer, deadly combination (smile). One of my personal goals is to educate authors on how to use Amazon to promote their books. As we all know Amazon is a force you can not ignore. Ironically though I believe goodreads (more so than Amazon) to be one of the best places for sharing information on the subject . I have often found that the Amazon Discussion Boards can be a not so friendly place and unfortunately many authors fall victim to "cyber-bulling". None of that here!

For the last few weeks I was attending the Taipei International Book Fair in Taiwan and let me tell you the desire to distribute foreign books into the U.S (as well as bring American "English" books into their region) is HUGE! It is all very exciting. One thing I noted which I felt everyone should know is that Amazon is the go to site for Foreign Rights buyers! Yup you heard me. Basically foreign publishing companies are realizing the value of Amazon and how it can essentially be used as a search engine when looking for new titles for rights purchasing. Having an amazon presence is more crucial now than ever as the site will only grow in the proceeding month/years in popularity.

That being said I wanted to let you all know I have created a blog to which I will be making 2 new posts a week all relating to Amazon. This blog will cover marketing tips, facts, and general information about Amazon. My aim is to help educate authors on using Amazon as this site should be treated by an author just as you would Facebook or Twitter. Social Media baby! ITS HERE TO STAY! Below is the link to my new blog! Hope you enjoy it and please feel free to leave comments!
