I've wanted to read this for a long time, but I can't get to it for a while.

I am good with any date.

We can always wait a week and Start Nov 3rd. This way it's the same week Tower begins, and we have a little head start.

My brother has been bugging me to read this since forever. I won't have time to start on it in November, but December would be a good month for me. How does that sound for you?

November 3rd is fine with me but I'm fine waiting also.

I just checked the library, and they have it home, so I would be able to start on Nov. 3rd if that's what you decide. I just won't be able to read that fast as I have 12 other books I have to read during November. So for me it would be awesome if we could start in December.

I JUST read this book last month! :) I found it to be a tough read for me. I still plan on reading the series but it's going to take me awhile.

I got a copy of the book today :D I'm good to go any time you guys decide to begin reading.

This is a great series. I've also heard from a lot of people that the first one was their least favorite, but it was the one that drew me into the series. Of course, I read it a zillion years ago. This was one of those series where I couldn't wait for the next one to be released. If you all continue with the series, I'd love to jump in on The Wind Through the Keyhole (#4.5). I pre-ordered it (I was so excited!), then didn't have a chance to read it. This will be the perfect opportunity.

Just wanted to let you know that I'll be ready to start the 3rd. Just borrowed it at the library.
So whenever fits you best (I thought it was a lot longer actually, so I don't think it will be a problem fitting it into my reading plan)

I was just thinking. What happens when 2 from the same team joins in on a buddy read?
Because Abbie and I are on the same team, will it only be one of us who gets credited for reading a buddy read with one from another team or how does that work?

That's a good question for the mods. You should drop a line in the Questions thread and see what they say... but I'd assume since each person read the book and was involved in the discussion then they'd each get credit. But that's an assumption!

I did read somewhere that both readers count as long as there us someone from another team reading also.

Ok. I'll ask in the TT Questions thread to be sure :)

I tried this years ago and dnf'ed it. I don't think I was in the right reading space for this book at the time and would love to join in and try again.

My brother told me that the first book was a little boring, but to definitely read the second book before deciding if it's worth reading onward, because that's when it starts getting really awesome.

I have read through the first four books of the series. If you are a King fan, the first book is much different than his typical novels, but he is back to form by the second book. If you all keep going, I would live to jump in later and finish the series.

Me too! Got mine from Paperback Swap and it's taking a little longer than I expected. I have 2 and 3 from there though.

I was hoping this read would be a bit later as I'm currently reading and that could be a bit too much concentrated King for the week, but oh well. If my mind is irrevocably destroyed probably no one will notice anyway. :D I'm in.

It's been a long time since I read The Dark Tower series, but I don't remember The Gunslinger being especially difficult to get through.

I'm reading the same version I read years ago, which is unrevised and comes in at about 180 pp. That's practically a novella. I probably should break down and spend the money for the new and improved 300 pp one, but I can't imagine it needing any more than what it already has.

I didn't realise there was a new version. I've got the old version too.

I'm in for this book. I started it today and I have the old version too. Has anyone started? What do you think about the beginning of the story?

I think the one I have on hold is the newer version....I am hoping to start later in the week when its in

I guess I'll slow down so that others get theirs. It ok because I have other books to finish :)

I have the newer kindle edition. I'm about half way through and enjoying it.

I didn't start the book today either. And I have the next couple of days off work (where I do most of my reading), with tons of things scheduled so I suspect I won't really get reading until Thursday.

I got the newer version from the library. I don't remember the original though, it was almost 30 years ago after all.

Got the email today, but my daughter has a concert after school, so I didn't get time to get it today.

It is King all the time. I am happy I am over the half way mark.

I actually never read a King novel until a couple of months ago I read The Shining. I liked it soooo much more than i thought I would.

What????I have been reading King since I was twelve!...probably shouldn't have been...but I was.

My Life, and the Great state of Maine, would be boring without him!
