I'm pleased to announce next month's BOTMs.

For Fantasy The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon narrowly won its poll.

And for Science Fiction , this years Hugo Award winner The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal won the poll.

Will announce a Halloween book shortly

Gareth Lee | 31 comments I thought my nomination might win for a second when it took an early lead but then came the 99p book deal and then the Hugo Award and it was blown away.

Still I'm pleased it was beaten by another book I excited about reading and the Samantha Shannon book sounds like it may be interesting too.

Matt Miller Bought the calculating stars the other day, so this is good timing! Looking forward to it.

Margo Wow, for once I have read, or tried to listen tp both wining books. For those planning on reading The Priory of the Orange Tree, in my experience it doesn't work well in audio or ebook. These are about 30 pages of lists of characters, timelines etc at the end of the book and I needed to visit them often. The constant flicking in digital format defeated me. I liked the writing and the plot was shaping up nicely but unfortunately. .....not for me. In print it should be great 😀

Eva | 55 comments Yay, my suggestion (Priory) won! I've started it (audiobook) and so far it's great. I love the velvety voice of the narrator. I've heard that her accent choices for characters aren't always perfect, but as a non-native speaker I'm not bothered by that at all. I do have the book's wiki open in the background to occasionally check names because it's a really epic book with many characters. But so far I'm really loving the audiobook and that lovely voice.

Ophelia Gunn (opheliagunn) | 78 comments Yay! I’m looking forward to both of these. Managed to snag ebook version of Priory from library app, and put a hold on Calculating Stars (only about 2 weeks wait on that).

Fannie D'Ascola | 608 comments Yay! I will be able to participate also. I bought The Calculating Stars last month.

The Calculating Stars is currently £0.99 in the Amazon UK Kindle store!

I am debating whether to get that version and save money, or buy the lovely paperback...
