Thank you Jenny :D

message 12: by Claire (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments I have buddy reads planned for:
DEV1AT3 (Lifelike, #2) by Jay Kristoff Night Film by Marisha Pessl Neverwhere (London Below, #1) by Neil Gaiman Hunting Prince Dracula (Stalking Jack the Ripper, #2) by Kerri Maniscalco
So I'll definitely be reading those.

I'm also definitely reading A Most Wanted Man by John le Carré for 'WANT'

For the rest of the month, I have a list of books I want to read but I won't get to all of them, I'll probably pick them based on what I can find a BR for or what letters we need. Let me know if you of you guys would like to BR any of these with me!
Odd Thomas (Odd Thomas, #1) by Dean Koontz Ancillary Justice (Imperial Radch #1) by Ann Leckie Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter, #2) by J.K. Rowling Obsidio (The Illuminae Files, #3) by Amie Kaufman 172 Hours on the Moon by Johan Harstad I Hunt Killers (I Hunt Killers, #1) by Barry Lyga The Three-Body Problem (Remembrance of Earth’s Past #1) by Liu Cixin Into the Drowning Deep (Rolling in the Deep, #1) by Mira Grant

message 26: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 1721 comments Great Jill. You did it perfect.

Welcome Dragonfly. I put your books on the SS too - check it out here

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Quirks when you know what you want to read, let me know and I'll find a place on the SS if you'd like me to.

message 27: by Eesh (new)

Eesh (quirkyopinions) | 7289 comments Yeah, I just need a couple of days to figure some stuff out and then I'll get back to you.

message 28: by Jill (new)

Jill | 3313 comments I did a switcheroo with Dragonfly to help us get more letters

message 29: by Jill (new)

Jill | 3313 comments Jenny, check the ss and see what I did. We can claim up to 5 letters if we are not claiming a word. We can prob fill in more slots with the books already placed..

message 30: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 1721 comments Looks great! Thanks Jill

message 31: by Claire (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments I haven't really chosen optimal books to complete the taglines this time around apart from the one for WANT so I'll try to slot mine around the completed letters where I can.

message 32: by Dragonfly (new)

Dragonfly | 235 comments :D

message 33: by Jill (new)

Jill | 3313 comments we can claim up to 5 letters. people on the sheet can add their books to more slots. you'll get more points!!

message 34: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 1721 comments Looks like this is more of a tally sort of game, so just try and fit your books into the three tag lines with up to five letters per the rules.

You can use the first letter of any word in the title, and first letter of the author's name.

You can use groups of words you find in the title, as long as there are at least two letter together for part of the word.

You can mix up those two processes. At least that's how I see it.

So, Claire, even though we claimed some of the letters for the word WANT in I WANT TO BELIEVE, you can still also claim those. It's not like we have to fill up Board 1 before we move to Board 2, etc.

message 35: by Jammin Jenny (last edited Oct 04, 2019 12:35AM) (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 1721 comments So when I finish Drawn and Buttered by Shari Randall I'm going to claim:

ERE from there (buttEREd), and AN from want (rANdall) - five letters from one book

Just try and look at where we stand in the letters we are colleting to see which ones we need the most from the review thread.

Maybe it's just me, but typing it out like this seems to help me figure out what I'm doing :)

message 36: by Claire (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments Got it!

Finally started my first book of the month, I had an exam on the 2nd and didn't want to look at any more words yesterday :D

message 37: by Eesh (new)

Eesh (quirkyopinions) | 7289 comments I finished Best Man (Close Proximity #1) by Lily Morton and I'm not sure where to put it.

message 38: by Eesh (new)

Eesh (quirkyopinions) | 7289 comments Also finished two novellas and, if I post them together to reach 200 pages, then I can use one for the letter R, right? The book is Clarity of Lines (Thomas Elkin, #2) by N.R. Walker .

message 39: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 1721 comments Quirks wrote: "I finished Best Man (Close Proximity #1) by Lily Morton and I'm not sure where to put it."

You could put it under

I Want to Believe

BE (BEst) AN (mAN) L (Lily)

I think so...

message 41: by Eesh (new)

Eesh (quirkyopinions) | 7289 comments Yeah but, what about the letters that are taken? In the SS, I mean.

message 42: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 1721 comments It's okay - Felicia is tallying it after each book we post. So the SS is more of a planning guide.

message 43: by Dragonfly (new)

Dragonfly | 235 comments Hey guys just to let yous know that from Monday to Friday im gonna be offline because im going on holiday but I will obviously be reading. Hoping to get Three Dark Crowns (Three Dark Crowns, #1) by Kendare Blake Part of Your World A Twisted Tale by Liz Braswell and Reflection (Twisted Tales, #4) by Elizabeth Lim finished and start Say Her Name by James Dawson (for say her name what letters can I use that for?

message 44: by Eesh (new)

Eesh (quirkyopinions) | 7289 comments Finally posted my first few reviews. It took forever because my laptop freezes every 30 seconds and doing this on my phone is annoying.

message 45: by Jill (new)

Jill | 3313 comments Jenny, you can use that "drawn and buttered" book you have for the W we are missing in I Want To Believe

message 46: by Jammin Jenny (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 1721 comments Thanks Jill. I think Sarah already pulled out letters for me that I missed when she scored by books. But if not, I will ask for it.

message 47: by Jill (new)

Jill | 3313 comments Yay!

message 48: by Claire (new)

Claire Chibi | 1826 comments If anyone wants the 'NE' of 'Trust No One' on the 2nd board feel free to take, Neverwhere was published in September and is tagged scifi so I actually only need 3 letters for that one for max bonus points!

message 49: by Jammin Jenny (last edited Oct 06, 2019 08:07PM) (new)

Jammin Jenny (jamminjenny) | 1721 comments Eek! there are other tag lines and things I should be looking at!!

From the challenge rules:

★ You can also earn +2 bonus points if your chosen book is written by someone, or who has a main character who is called 'Dana', 'Fox', 'Scully', or 'Mulder'.

★ You can also earn +2 bonus points if your chosen book was first published in 1993 (the year X-Files was first aired).

★ You can also earn +2 bonus points if your chosen book was first published in September of any year (the month X-Files was first aired).

★ You can also earn +2 bonus points if your book is tagged 'Sci-fi' within its first 20 tags.

The number of bonus points is still capped at 10 points though, no matter how you earn those points. You cannot claim a word or 5 letters, and also claim these bonus points.

message 50: by Jill (new)

Jill | 3313 comments What are we doing with books in red on the current sheet? I am starting a few books that fit those slots. Can we move those out? I don't want anyone getting mad..
