Roger Croft (rogercroft) | 31 comments Roger Croft's latest spy thriller has just been published [available on Amazon etc.]. THE MAGHREB CONSPIRACY is the third story in Croft's Mideast spy trilogy [THE WAYWARD SPY, OPERATION SALADIN]. Michael Vaux, our hero, is called once again to serve queen and country. He has been enjoying semi-retirement, house-sitting in Tangier when MI6's Department B3 asks him to help locate a would-be defector from AQIM [Al-Qaeda in the Muslim Maghreb]following the assassination of his courier on the Paris-Madrid luxury nigh-train. A younger colleage from MI6's Dept.B3 is sent to Tangier to help Vaux but three days after his arrival in the old port city, he is abducted outside a nightclub on Tangier's hot and sultry Corniche. Vaux now has to find both men. His search pulls him from the dusty, winding streets of Tangier to exotic Malilla, a Spanish outpost on the North African coast as well as to storied Casablanca. VAUX finds himself inexorably sucked into a convoluted labyrinth of deceit and betrayal where double and triple agents pursue their own shadowy goals and a pushy CIA operative tries to teach the 'Cousins' a lesson or two.
