Historical Fictionistas discussion

This is a mini-challenge that will run only for the month of October. All books read for a task should be either historical fiction or nonfiction (with the exception of task 3). When finished with a task simply add the book next to the task number. There will be another longer challenge running for the fall which is why this one is so small. Enjoy!

Task 1: October 1, 1949- The People’s Republic of China was established by Mao Zedong. Read a book about the cultural revolution in China.

Task 2: October 5, 1813- Chief Tecumseh was defeated and killed during the War of 1812. Read a book about the war of 1812.

Task 3: October 11, 1899- The Boer War begins in South Africa between the British and Boers. Read a book set in South Africa.

Task 4: October 12, 1492- Columbus makes landfall in the New World. Read a book about exploration.

Task 5: October 16, 1793- Queen Marie Antoinette was beheaded during the Reign of Terror. Read a book about an ill-fated monarch.

Task 6: October 29,1292 The stock market crashed. Read a book about The Great Depression.

Task 7: Choose two people from the following list of birthdays and read a book that features them as a main character in the story or read a biography.
