Elizabeth of Silver's Reviews (silversreviews) Breathing Room by Susan Elizabeth Phillips...it is set in Italy and is a love story in part....tell her the treatments are very good today for breast cancer.

I am nine years out with breast cancer and she will be fine as well.

Hi Caroline, welcome to the group, and I am very sorry to hear about your aunt. Early detection and treatment is a good thing!

I would recommend anything by Christopher Moore if you want fictional humor... he is a riot!

Lindalee Stahlman (lindalees) | 22 comments Ok, I'm being lazy. If no one knows the name of the book I am thinking of, I will try to find it. but I am hoping someone here remembers what I am talking about. Years ago a guy wrote a book about how laughter helped him when he was diagnosed with a serious illness.

Karin Sorry about your aunt, Caroline. If she wants a good laugh to keep her mind off of treatments, the Stephanie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich are very entertaining. I found myself laughing out loud quite often! There are about 13 or 14 in the series. Tell your aunt that she can beat this. Breast cancer treatment has come such a long way.

Petra Caroline, I'm sorry to hear about your aunt. I hope her treatment goes well.
A book that I would recommend is A Prayer for Owen Meany. It's a wonderful story tells the life of Owen Meany. It's funny, inspiring and wrm. If your aunt likes life sagas, this may be something she'd enjoy.
There's also The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency. This is the first book in a series. It's an easy-going read.

Suzanne (bellamy22) | 610 comments Anything by David Sedaris ... Also, there are some very funny DVDs of live performances by the best comedians... even full episodes of Johnny Carson's years of the 'Tonight Show' are hysterical!!!

Diane (dianedj) Caroline, prayers and good thoughts for your aunt.
I was going to suggest David Sedaris, and then see that Suzanne has already made that suggestion. His books are in the form of short essays, laugh out loud.
