Good luck Leane. I know how you feel. I have only been able to read light mysteries lately, I just can't get into anything deeper than that.

I haven't even been in the mood for a cozy mystery and I'm always up for them!
Maybe I'll read a Baby-Sitters Club book. Those are quick and usually get me back in the mood for something else.

Karen (karinlib) | 2108 comments Exactly Leane. Picking up a favorite book or series can definitely help. I read A Wrinkle in Time or Anne McCaffrey's Dragonsong, when I am having trouble getting into a deeper book. I know I will not put those books down.

Karen (karinlib) | 2108 comments I have question. Now that it's October and Halloween is approaching, do you find yourself reading more "seasonal" type books, mysteries for example?
It seems as though I have only been able to finish light mysteries this month.

That is not always the case, but yes I do tend to read more Halloween related books this time of the year.

Interesting question, I did read three books directed towards Gothic and Horror this month, Dragonwyck by Anya Seton The Girl With All the Gifts (The Girl With All the Gifts, #1) by M.R. Carey , The Cavendish Home for Boys and Girls by Claire Legrand and one towards Paranormal Fantasy. Now I start to tire of the gloomy direction, although Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children, #1) by Ransom Riggs has its creepy vibes too.

Karen (karinlib) | 2108 comments I know what you mean Leticia, I just started re-reading The Rook by Daniel O'Malley, because I was reading only light mysteries. I needed something different.

message 17: by Leticia (new)

Leticia (leticiatoraci) I ended up reading Walking to Aldebaran by Adrian Tchaikovsky which is quite dark too but filled up with British humor.

Karen (karinlib) | 2108 comments We have one week left! How is everyone doing? Did you read one book that you really liked, that stood out?

I read a lot of light books this month, in between some very long books that I haven't finished yet. If I had to pick a favorite it would be The Rook (The Checquy Files, #1) by Daniel O'Malley , which was a re-read. But I must say, I am really enjoying all of the books that I am reading.

I'm putting myself on a strict reading schedule to finish up this month. I've only finished one book and that's unacceptable to me. Too many games on my phone instead of reading.
