Right now I'm reading Drums of Autumn and Eat, Pray, Love. I'm getting through them slowly only because I work full-time, go to school part-time, and have a young family. I hope to finish them by the end of the challenge! LOL

Uh-oh. I just read your review and I can already see where you're coming from, especially with the humour being forced. We'll see how it comes along for me. I like that it's a no-brainer kind of read - perfect for when I'm waiting in line somewhere, or other moments when I really can't afford to tune the world out and concentrate.

I have several books out from the library. Some I've finished. Some I haven't cracked open yet. I also have a hold on a few books, Full Dark No Stars (25.4) on Playaway being one of them. Audio books take me so much longer to read, but I figure that since it is all short stories, I could listen while doing chores or cleaning.

I second this. I really liked Room and would have liked to listen to the audiobook. It was such a haunting narrative

i really liked room, but then i'm also psychology major and working on my phd in it, so it was interesting from that aspect. i'm glad i listened to the audio - i don't know if i could have appreciated Jack's point of view just reading it (if that makes sense)

I think I will set aside The Book Thief for awhile. I borrowed it from the library and will not finish it in time before it is due. I think I am going to read Midnight Pearls: A Retelling of "The Little Mermaid" to finish 30.6 and then I am determined to finish Outlander for 20.10. I also started Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for 5.2 which I need to finish and I have had Undaunted sitting around for a couple of months that was a Goodreads giveaway that I want to read.

Currently listening to Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague in the car and reading The Silver Swan and The Last Unicorn.

I am reading The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and A Wrongful Death which I did not know was part of a series but I am following the story so far.

I always have an audiobook and a print book on the read. Right now I'm listening to Outlander for the group read and reading Nevermore to fulfill 20.8. I am surprised at how much I am loving the Outlander book! I'm addicted! I'm about half way through & my laundry is going to be all caught up which is a miracle around here! - listening while I work! I must get the next in the series, Dragonfly in Amber - does anyone have any ideas where I could fit it in to the challenge? I won't be able to finish the challenge as I hope to if I keep reading these super-long books; but if I can at least count it somehow..
So, back to my laundry - and OUTLANDER!

you could always fit dragonfly into mrs soule's task - since she is a nurse/doctor in that one...but fyi - you'll want to have book 3 lined up and ready to go at the end of book 2, cliff-hanger hell

I'm reading In the Woods for 5.4.

I am currently multi-tasking with The Paris Wife (a fun read for any fellow fans of Hemingway and Hadley's Paris years; Sarum (historical fiction -- a creative take on the history of Stonehenge and ancient England); and Leslie Marmon Silko's The Turquoise Ledge: A Memoir. I'm on a historical fiction kick lately, but I'm looking for other (fiction) novels to balance out my reading selection.

Thanks Dee for the idea and for the warning. Thankfully, my library is well stocked on the audio version of the entire series. Since I am not a patient person, I am not good with cliffhangers! I am almost done with Outlander now - I've been into it all day long! I just wish there wasn't so much smut in it though - I have to pay close attention to what is going on so my kids don't accidentally overhear something they shouldn't!

I just downloaded The Paris Wife on my Kindle along with several others now I can't decide what to start first. Thanks for the motivating comment.

I have been slogging through The Thorn Birds for 20.8 and I JUST CANNOT TAKE ANY MORE!
I've gotta change to a different book. This is the sixth time I've started this book since it came out in 1977 and I still can't hack it. Ralph and Meggie and crew will have to move on without me.
