It was supposed to be the perfect reunion: six university friends together again after twenty years. Host Ali finally has the life she always wanted, a career she can be proud of and a wonderful family with her college boyfriend, now husband. When Karen staggers in from the garden, bleeding and traumatised, she claims that she has been assaulted—by Ali’s husband, Mike. Ali must make a split-second decision: who should she believe? Her horrified husband, or her best friend? With Mike offering a very different version of events, Ali knows one of them is lying—but which? And why?

When the ensuing chaos forces her to re-examine the golden era the group shared at university, Ali realises there are darker memories too. Memories that have lain dormant for decades. Memories someone would kill to protect.

Chapters 1-10

Wow! What a reunion! (view spoiler)[ at this point I don’t know what to think or who to believe either. I feel for everyone involved except Mike if he is the one who actually raped Karen. What a predicament for Ali to be in! I can’t imagine my best friend accusing my husband of something like that and trying to figure out who to believe and as much as I trust my husband and just couldn’t believe he would do something like that, I would find it extremely difficult to believe my best friend was lying about something as serious as rape. I also feel for Benji because he is so young and finding his dad‘s garments appeared to be buried must be very confusing for him. And it certainly makes Mike look more guilty. And when he said that they had sex that day obviously that’s possible but it’s certainly a convenient story. Also, what is up with Cassie? She seems to be sneaking around and acts she knows something but she isn’t saying. (hide spoiler)]

I wasn’t expecting all of that to happen!! I’m liking this one.
(view spoiler)[ I understand why Jake did what he did but obviously it was the wrong thing to do. I hope he’s not Mike’s son because I’d think it would be even harder to live with. But I was surprised that Karen said she’s had an affair with Mike since day 1. What a betrayal even if it was only once - your best friend AND husband? Ugh! I still think there’s more to find out about Cassie too. (hide spoiler)]
