Rosemary: I am not a moderator, but on October 8th there was a post asking for suggestions for the 17th mini poll. On October 14th there was a post saying it was time to get ready to vote and it gave the day when voting would open and when the voting would close. I've never received any other announcement of the poll. I don't think there is any attempt to keep people from knowing about the voting.

You can choose from any of the nominees.

Keep in mind that we all have the wildcard plus the prompt “A book that fits a prompt from the list of suggestions that didn't win”"

Remind me what “A book that fits a prompt from the list of suggestions that didn't win” was for? Is it for a polarizing or close-call suggestion? Or ANY non-winning suggestion whether or not it registered any result?

Nadine, the 2020 prompt is any prompt that was suggested and did not make it on the list. This year’s prompt was Close Call or Polarizing, but next year’s prompt is more broad.

This feels late to me, even as a library only reader. I’d say maybe April.

For me it depends on how quickly I get on the reserve list and when in the year a book is released. Of the 7 books coming out in 2020, here is where they land for release dates:
- January 2020 (1 book)
- March 2020 (2 books)
- June 2020 (2 books)
- July 2020 (1 book)
- August 2020 (1 book)

Some of these books book fit other prompts, so I am not sure yet which with be the released in 2020 book.

The prompt that Emily is talking about is the winner/nominee from the 2019 Goodreads Readers Choice Awards. They'll be books that were published in 2019, not 2020.

Thanks Steve. The 2020 release prompt will be placed at the end of the year to allow for people to read from a variety of new releases, but some people mentioned that the 2018 GR Choice awards felt a bit irrelevant in October since we are about to start the 2019 GR Choice Awards, so I thought about moving that prompt up to earlier in the list next year.
