Army Ants

I'm new to this & not sure how it works, but wanted to just do a little intro? I am Danielle, I am 26 years old and I've always been a book lover, and have always enjoyed reading, but recently I've kind of let go of all of that.. and haven't been reading that much AT all. I just recently started to get into reading again; and I'm very much into chick-lit, and young adult books.. although I'm a sucker for anything that can just get me trapped into a book, and fall inlove with the characters.
I'm a super animal lover and all my babies are rescues, I foster for a local kitty rescue and occasionally foster a dog in the winter time. I also am a volunteer at the MSPCA, along with working a fulltime job as a medical assistant.
I look forward to being on a team with all of you, and hope that we all get some good reading in together!

I'll be your Mod mentor. Feel free to ask me any questions or let me know if you have any problems. I'll do all I can to help. You'll probably be seeing me around a lot :).
I hope none of you have an ant phobia!

That's wonderful that you are so connected with animal rescues, Danielle. My husband and I are going to adopt a dog when we get back from Mexico in December. Some of the best animals I know were rescues :).
I've always wanted to foster. We live in an apartment right now so it's probably not doable yet. Do you ever have a difficult time letting go of your fosters?

I like this picture better, a bit.
Or this one,

How did you come up with the name Army Ants?

That's wonderful news that you're going to adopt a dog when you come back from Mexico, dogs are lots of fun. I have two.. do you know what type you're thinking of rescuing? I have a small dog, and a 50lb dog.. love them both!
I have a hard time letting go of my fosters, of course, they all leave with a piece of my heart. Some more than others, some I just can't let go and I end up keeping (hehe) and thats what I call a 'foster failure.' then there are others that I always keep in contact with their new homes so I know how they're doing. Theres only been one kitten that went to a new home that I regretted letting go, but am very happy he has a wonderful home.. he just was a very big part of me and I miss him everyday.

I'm so glad to be here, I have to run for the classes now, but I will be here in the evening (in Poland) and I will put my bio ;), and have some more talk.
My shelf is Army Ants_Tower Team 2014.

I am off to work now, I'll be back this evening.
My shelf is:

My shelf is nbrc-tt3-challenge

I finished my book that was 357pages long Can You Keep a Secret?, and I loved it. How does it work now for my points to be added? (I'm sorry - I'm new to this)
I created a shelf for my books that I've finished for the challenge, currently only that book is on it. I labeled it "army Ants" haha... am I supposed to put all the books I plan to read? Or just the ones I've read already for the competition?

It's here:

I adore pit bulls but we're not allowed to have them in our apartment complex. It's terrible because there are a lot of pitties at the local shelters.
We're probably going to look for a basset, corgi...or any dog, actually :).

Aw, pitbulls are pretty special dogs, I love them because so many people think so badly of them. I tend to do that, haha.. I'm sure you'll love any dog that you guys decide to adopt, adopting is such a wonderful thing. I just volunteered at the MSPCA yesterday, I am volunteering with the small animals, but they alwayssss have so many pitties there, it breaks my heart.

I'm Claire, your co-captain. I'm a 25 year old Ambulance Technician from the UK. In my spare time I'm a Rainbow unit leader and an assistant Brownie leader (Rainbows is girls aged 5-7 and Brownies 7-10 from the GirlGuiding organisation). I also love reading and writing :)
I'll have a quick look through the messages and see if there's anything I missed and I'll send everyone a friend request :)
As Marcella hasn't checked in yet, I'll start setting up a spreadsheet and posts in the other thread and this one :)

In answer to your question, yes, more than ever :)

We have noticed the huge page difference between the several editions for The Lies of Locke Lamora.
The word count is 192,918 so dividing by 250 words per page gives us 771 pages.
Therefore, for Tower Team purposes, we're going to state that the official ruling of this book is 90 points.
When marking your books as read, please choose an edition that has between 751 and 900 pages.

I am Marcella but I also go by Marcy so pick the one you like the best I will answer to either.
A little about me, I am an accountant from Central MN, today it is snowing a lot......so far this morning we already have 2 inches supposed to get 15 inches by the time the storm is done but it makes for good reading.
I am the Proud Owner of 2 rescue Rotties and one Sheltie Puppy.....My Rotties are Madeline who is 12 And Rogue vom Drakkenfels who is 4......the Baby of the pack is Blue Banners The Magic of Dragonfly call name Razzle who is 6 months and not a rescue...the Queen of them all is my Thai cat Tika......
So other then reading my Hobbies are Showing my Dogs in AKC & UKC events like weight pull and obedience, Cooking and various Crafts.
If you notice on my Shelves I have a lot of books and an FYI on how I set them up...if I actually own the book it is on my currently reading shelf.....I am going to try and work on getting that down to a much smaller number...you will find that I often have books on there not available yet....the good thing is I have author friends that are nice to send my ARC copies. I regularly like to go to smaller book conventions such as Lori Fosters Readers and Authors get together and the Midwestern Booklovers Convention
My shelf for this challenge is Army Ants_Tower Team 2014
I want everyone to know that the most important thing is to have fun and socialize

I will admit though, I'm attempting NaNoWriMo so my reading will go back up to normal amounts once November is finished. I'm determined to get a reasonable amount of words written this year though (I've already beaten last year's goal!)

I am so excited to hear that you have two rescue rotties, I love rottweilers, think they are gorgeous, and how blessed are you to have one to be 12 years of age! That is fantastic!
Looking forward to having you as a team captian. :)
I love animals!

I had no idea what NaNoWriMo is, but I just looked it up.. I'm impressed! good luck Claire, & have fun!

I have all rescue babies, 2 dogs, 7 kitties (I know *crazy cat lady*) 2 bunnies, 2 guinea pigs & hamsters and mice, too!

I love cats, but my hubby is allergic to them. We had two cats for a few years, but we decided to give them to his parents after he had some troubles with anti-allergic medications.
Maybe I should formally introduce myself as well :)
I'm 36 years old, I live in Warsaw, Poland (Europe), I was a teacher for 12 years and now I study again, this time American Studies. I'm a psychologist, but for now, I don't work as one. I have two kids and husband, and a bunny as I have already mentioned. I love reading, and I do it every free minute I have (and sometimes even if I don't have any free time). I mainly read in English and love sci-fi, dystopian/apocalyptic, UF, paranormal fantasy, epic fantasy detective stories and some good thrillers/adventure stories. I also like a good historical fiction and some historical non-fiction, especially connected to the history of the US. My least favourite genre is romance, but if it is a good story line, I'm open to read it. I really like buddy reads and all sorts of book discussions.

My parents have a cat and a dog though (who are part of my family as I was reminded tonight!). The dog's a Jack-a-poo, Jack Russell cross Poodle called Pepper and the cat's called Willow.
