Tanya | 8 comments The publisher just suggested we get reviews up on Good Reads and Amazon... we've had lots of raving email feedback but not many people have gone the extra step and pasted it into an online review.

I'm also looking for reviews for a children's emotional intelligence activity book facing the same fate!

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments When I wanted to get reviews I went to a site for another popular book in the same genre which I was already visiting regularly (because I was also a fan of the book in question!) and offered a free copy to anyone who would write a review and I said that the first ten reviewers would go into a draw to receive a copy of the next two novels in the series as soon as they were released. It gave me a good start, at least.

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3567 comments Sometimes you do just have to be patient, but if you create your own thread and you're able to offer copies for review or do a giveaway, it can help.

Most importantly, when you're on Goodreads, you need to be part of the groups you're in - participating, making friends and enjoying the general book chatter. (It's a lot of fun!)

Well said Leonie. We certainly appreciate the authors who take the time to become real members of our group and who make friends with other members and participate fully. In response we read these authors books and give our reviews freely.

Tanya | 8 comments Thankyou, I'll go hunting for such a site!

Um Tanya Aussie Readers IS such a site!

Tanya | 8 comments :) I was replying to Lynne because my computer hadn't refreshed the comments and I thought I only had one!

Thankyou all!

Carolyn | 9840 comments I've had a few authors ask me recently if I could post my GR review on Amazon or the publisher's website. I don't know how others feel about that but I don't mind doing that, particularly if I really liked the book. I will usually get around to posting on Amazon anyway if I bought the book there, but a lot of people don't.

Lynne Stringer | 280 comments Amazon reviews are always good because the more you have there the higher your book ranks on Amazon. That's why they're asking. I always try and review there if I can.

Tanya | 8 comments And also apparently the reviews filter downstream but not back up so I always review on amazon.com, not .au. It eventually makes it to .au, but if you do it on the Australian site initially, it won't return to the .com site.
