Jannene | 3124 comments I finished Mistress of the Art of Death. It was so good and I am glad we are reading the series. The characters are very interesting and I really like them. I finished before Cherie and Dom because I’m still procrastinating on From Russia with Blood: The Kremlin's Ruthless Assassination Program and Vladimir Putin's Secret War on the West and The girl in the woods.

I need to get back to them. (She types while sighing.)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments You sound like me, except the opposite. I have been procrastinating finishing Mistress of the Art of Death because I have others that I need to finish. It really does become a balancing act. I am really enjoying MotAoD though.

message 54: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I gave up on both books. It was putting me in a reading slump.

Jannene | 3124 comments What is Harry Hole up to?? We are just starting to find out by reading our orphan Knife.

Dominique | 1126 comments Jannene wrote: "What is Harry Hole up to?? We are just starting to find out by reading our orphan Knife."

I like the fact that he doesn't have 20 words titles!

message 57: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Hahaha! He must not be paid by the word.

Dominique | 1126 comments Jannene wrote: "Hahaha! He must not be paid by the word."

Lol, I hope not!

message 59: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Poor Harry has been waiting for me to read #4 for a long, long time.

message 60: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Right now he’s a mess in this book. Then again if you have read 3 books about Harry, you know he tends to always be a mess.

message 61: by Dominique (new)

Dominique | 1126 comments Jannene wrote: "Right now he’s a mess in this book. Then again if you have read 3 books about Harry, you know he tends to always be a mess."

That's his trademark.

message 62: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments No joke there.

message 63: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Yes, I know about him being a mess. I liked him a lot, but his books are long, and nothing seems to fit on a challenge task.

message 64: by Renee (new)

Renee (elenarenee) | 1650 comments I love Harry. He is such an interesting mess

message 65: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I think Jo Nesbo might be ending Harry. The last book really didn’t leave much left...I think.

message 66: by Jannene (last edited Feb 02, 2020 04:13PM) (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Dom is making me read a fantasy book. This was not on our planned list. We started The Eye of the World.

I had to add this under the “Unfortunate adds that should never have crossed our path” plot.

message 67: by Cherie (last edited Feb 03, 2020 02:41PM) (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments The Wheel of Time series is my youngest daughter's favorite series of all time! Her favorite part of the books was that they were sooooo looooong. It took her more than a minute to finish them. That is what she told me, when I asked her about the series. :o)

message 68: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments It is quite chunky. Dom bought it for me for Christmas.

message 69: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I finished The Inventor's Secret. Dominique gave up on it. I may not finish the series unless Cherie is dying to read it. Cherie was sticking it out and reading this book with me.

message 70: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments We are starting Inferno. Next month we finish the series!!!

message 71: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Jannene wrote: "We are starting Inferno. Next month we finish the series!!!"

I really loved this one. I think I read it and re-read it three times before I felt finished with it.

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments I've got the next one, Origin on my challenge. We could do a buddy read next month, if you like.

message 73: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Perfect!

message 74: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments We finished Inferno. I have to say personally, I didn’t find this book the best in the series. I found it quite boring and I didn’t care for the characters except Robert who really wasn’t himself.

Now we are starting our buddy read The Serpent's Tale and Gone Girl.

message 75: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Cherie, when did you want to read The Girl Who Lived Twice with us? We can hit this up in April or May if you want.

message 76: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Jannene wrote: "Cherie, when did you want to read The Girl Who Lived Twice with us? We can hit this up in April or May if you want."

I cannot commit to may, so we better say April, Jannene. I guess May 1st would work though, but I will be on vacation with my sisters May 15th through May 30th. I doubt there will be much book reading done.

message 77: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments @ Gone Girl. My daughter and I were talking about it today. Too funny.

message 78: by Jannene (last edited Mar 16, 2020 03:27PM) (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Gone Girl (The title was true to my heart...I was “gone girl”.) I quit this book and left Dom reading solo. The characters were not engaging or likable. Apparently, that is why Dom likes it, silly woman!

I curled back up into a read that Dom has already finished The Eye of the World.

message 79: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments My daughters all loved the Wheel of Time series. Everyone has read it but me. My youngest has all of the hardcover books in her bookshelf. They are her pride and joy. It took her a long time to find them all in the same size. I will read it one day.

message 80: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments I gave Gone Girl 5 stars, so I guess I'm in Dom's camp. :)

message 81: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Dom, Cherie and I finished The Serpent's Tale. We also had a few others that helped us as a buddy read. This is a good series. The three of us seemed to have liked it.

I’m still working on Dom and my read The Eye of the World. It is getting pretty good but I’m not used to big chunky books. I’m still working on it.

I just started Dom’s and my buddy read The Harvest Man since my library loaned it to me a few weeks ago. I have just 5 days left on my loan so I have to finish it this weekend. I hope Dom catches up.

message 82: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I finished The Eye of the World. It was a good read but I am not inclined to finish it.

I finished The Harvest Man and that was a really good read. I have Lost and Gone Forever for 2 weeks. I hope to start that soon and finish the series with Dom.

We started Origin today and have quite a few people joining us. This will be a series that we finally kill off!

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments Jannene wrote: "We started Origin today and have quite a few people joining us. This will be a series that we finally kill off! .."

It's an orphan for me. I killed the series before this was published.

message 84: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I have killed the series, but I might come over and read the comments. I just noticed that there were 43 as of now.
I have been reading Mercy Thompson and Mary Russell books. I should be reading my trivia book.

L'm more than 50% into the book. Since my work from home is winding down, more time to read.

message 86: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments We finished our Robert Langdon series. We started this series in December. This was a big April buddy read.

message 87: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Awesome kill ladies!

I wonder if Brown is going to write any more Robert Langdon stories? I haven’t bothered to look.

message 88: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I looked Cherie and it doesn’t look like it at least not yet. Langdon is 62 years old, not sure he can handle more of this running for his life much more or being a ladies man.

message 89: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59916 comments I was watching Ancient Aliens on Netflix last night, and these scientists might have an argument with Edmond about where we come from. It was rather interesting watching it after listening to Origin.

message 90: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments We just started our last book in the Scotland Yard series; Lost and Gone Forever.

message 91: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments I just killed the Scotland Yard series. I’m sure Dom will finish it shortly. It was such a good series! We’ve killed two series this month!!

message 92: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Good job on another kill!

I haven't added a new series for the last month and a half, so I feel pretty good about that.

Are we going to read one of our series books starting tomorrow?

If all goes weel, Ill be done tomorrow night. Need to charge my ereader. I was reading so much for the past week that didn't notice the bar going down.

I thought you added the J.J. Graves series? You know the one you said you did from my kill list. Dirty Little Secrets.

message 95: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments We can start Grave Goods if the others are ready.

message 96: by Renee (new)

Renee (elenarenee) | 1650 comments I read Grave Secrets last month, I remember enough to join in. I liked it more then then the second book.

message 97: by Dominique (new)

Dominique | 1126 comments Jannene wrote: "We can start Grave Goods if the others are ready."

I'll start this weekend.

Jannene | 3124 comments Our buddy read in April for Grave Goods has quite a few people. I loved this book the best out of the 3 so far.
