I think this book is the most difficult to follow.. idk if I’m just not paying as much attention or that there’s just so much going on..

Oh how I love when moganagall stands up to Umbridge hahaha 😂

Read the first couple of chapters but forgot to update! (view spoiler)[ I forgot how unfairly Harry is treated in this one. After everything he went through, isolating him is not the way to go! Mundungus Fletcher is also the absolute worst. (hide spoiler)]

Up to chapter 20 (view spoiler)[ Umbridge is literally worse than Voldemort, she's awful. I love how Dumbledore shuts down Fudge at Harry's hearing xD I really like seeing them clear out Grimmauld Place too, it's very interesting. I always feel so sorry for Ron with him being bullied at the Quidditch game, although it makes me mad at the teachers for not stopping it. (hide spoiler)]

Awesome. I'm still only on like 3 or 4. Really slow right now as I'm focusing more on my physical books and also this is where I start to dislike Harry a bit. He's way too moody for me.

Chapter 2

I'm glad that this book jumped right into the action, I just finished a 780 page book which was excellent but took forever for things to start happening. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 13
(view spoiler)[Dang, I never watched the movies past GoF so I didn't know much about Umbridge except that she is very pink and very evil. She is actually way more creepy than I expected her to be 😬 (hide spoiler)]

I feel like Harry is way more moody and angry in the books compared the movies, although to be fair I watched the movies when I was very young so it could be that I just don't remember it.

(view spoiler)[I feel like this book was kinda unnecessarily long, like I guess that the slow buildup makes things more suspenseful but it just took a bit too long for my tastes. No wonder people didn't really like the movie adaption for this one, it's just so much content to fit into 2 hours.

I liked the revelation that James Potter was kinda an a-hole, it was an interesting idea, although I feel bad for Harry, his blood related family already sucks without having to add James to the list. Also Sirius nooooooooo! :<

I'm really eager to go watch the movie now despite the mixed reviews, that final part with all the weird rooms sounds like it would look really cool. (hide spoiler)]

You can tell in the movies he's changed but the books make it more clear.

Chapter 13-
You guys are definitely right that Harry is much more moody and anger in this book. I see where he’s coming from but he does need to be careful and nicer to those who are ok his side.
Also Harry always gets the best of the best and the spotlight so I feel like he should’ve been more happier when Ron became a prefect.

Yeah, it does feel authentic though, teenagers tend to have poor emotional control and Harry is already shockingly well-adjusted considering his terrible childhood. Growing up without emotionally supporting parental figures can really mess you up, and kids tend to subconsciously absorb the mannerisms of their parental figures, his outbursts are probably learned behavior from his uncle.

Also he suffers from PTSD as well I think so I'm not surprised either. I just don't enjoy it.

Yeah that definitely makes sense as to why he behaves the way he does. He has been through so much and especially with Umbridge down his neck about everything, it doesn’t help at all

Yes a combination of hormones, mental health issues, family issues and stress can make someone snap like he does.

I agree with Claire. I'm actually surprised he isn't worse.

Chapter 28
(view spoiler)[ This is always the part where I start to grow a soft spot for Snape. I know he’s always portrayed as this bad guy but he really had a hard life. I think it’s important to realized that what Harry faced with being bullied, Snape did too. It also helps explain why Snape behaves the way he does. I really like how we get to see more into Snape’s character, making him have such complex layers to him.

Umbridge is just so annoying. I find what Fred and George are doing to be so funny, despite being immature. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I get what you're saying about how it was too long and had such a slow buildup. I am so happy Umbridge is gone and Fudge can no longer ignore the situation at hand. I do feel bad for Harry but I also like how it's shown that his parents weren't such perfect people. (hide spoiler)]
