One still left to read is Magda Szabó who I have heard good things about. She has some well-thought-of books like The Door which don't fit our classic definition but others that do. I'd probably lean to reading Abigail from 1970 sometime next year.

I also have quite a good collection of Barnes & Nobles leatherbound classics - even though I cannot buy from them as they will not ship to the EU. I buy them from ebay sellers and Amazon. I bought my first one at Waterstones in town.
My favourite Russian translators are Pevear & Volokhonsky.
