Does anyone want to read the Brothers Karamasov by Dostoyevsky with me this summer?

Hi Gina. I've always wanted to read The Brothers Karamazov. But I think it would be more fun if we had 1 or 2 more people to join us.

I would love to read that one too, but I can’t commit to that until September I don’t think. Would you be willing to wait that long? Completely understand if not 😊

I also would like to read the Brothers Karamazov but could not start until September either.

I am also interested in reading Brothers Karamazovs. Actually I started it and read some 6 chapters but couldn’t continue. September will be fine with me too.😀

Hi everyone! A few of us are thinking of doing a Buddy Read of a few Russian Authors. The Master and Margarita Oct or Nov. Anna Karenina after that (Dec or Jan). I don’t know if this is premature to announce, but it would be time for some of you to find books or plan reads accordingly. No need to read ahead as it would be more fun to read together. @Betsy (Moderator), please advise.

Gonna be honest wit youse guys. Anna K has devolved in my mind as the story of a bored, self centered first world, over privileged white woman. Yes I am a fan of Count Leo but more time on this woman is not gonna maximize my utiles,

I recently did a buddy read of The M and M, but I believe that there are people here who could help me to better understand the book and its author. I have A Country Doctor's Notebook on my roundtoit list and maybe lurking with you good people might motivate me to make that leap.

Maybe for sometime in 2021, in case anyone is interested: Dr Zhivago? It's also on my bucket list.

Frances and all those interested, since you've given advance notice for people to grab a copy by the time Oct/Nov/Dec comes around, I'll put up the discussion threads accordingly. I think reading together is the whole point, so it's great that you are all up for that and then you can plan for it.

Hi Shelley, I just saw your post. A few of us who are wrapping up our War and Peace Buddy Read of August, are moving on to our The Brothers Karamazov read this September. A few of us think that squeezing the book into 1 month will not be possible, so we will be reading it instead from September-October. We haven't heard back from the other readers, and are hoping this would be okay with them too.

We have The Master and Margarita scheduled for after that, which will then be pushed back to November-December. Would you like to join us for that?

Anna Karenina, which was originally scheduled for the end of the year, will also have to be pushed back to the beginning of 2021. All the Russian reads will now be scheduled for 2 months instead of squeezed into a 1 month read so that we can enjoy them better. And if someone would like to volunteer as host for these Buddy Reads, please let us know.

@Moderators, please advise how we set this up and if we're doing things correctly? Thank you! 🤗

Would anyone be interested in reading Moby Dick or Don Quijote? I've been meaning to read them for a while and it would be nice to have company along the way

I'd be interested in Moby-Dick or, the Whale. It's quite high on my TBR list. I was the one who posted that ginormous list of Russian reads above that stretches until 2021.! When are you planning on reading this?

That works great for me, Kaisser, as I'm only 50+ % into WAP myself. The other buddies read faster than I did. I'd prefer not to juggle that whale of a book and that book of a whale (sorry, could not resist that pun!). So starting MD any time after September is better for me.

Sounds great. Hopefully more people get involved and afterwards we could start thinking about a date in October, for example?

I know 1 other person who is interested in this group. I'll message and ask her if she's free for October. I don't think she's checking this thread for updates.

If people are reading Moby Dick as a buddy read I’d be interested in that!! I wouldn’t start it until November, though, so sounds like I’d end up being behind

Adele, I am interested in doing a buddy read, as well as Kaisser. November sounds good with me. I'm juggling a lot of books right now.

If anyone is interested in buddy reading The Hunger Games with me, I would be down. Everyone's always mentioning it, so I feel like it's a good time to know what they are talking about and why people loved this book so much back in the day. :) Let me know if you're interested.
