Excellent! :) We'll be 3 anyway!

Frances (francesperez) | 352 comments @Laura, I'm marking Middlemarch for April. I found a great annotated site for it. Will send it to you now!!! I wish I could join you for GWTW. It sounds like a fun group you have. I read it when I was 17yo. Hmmmm. Maybe I should reread it again.....

message 154: by Frances (new)

Frances (francesperez) | 352 comments @Suzy, yes, Anna K in the works. Will let you know what month. We are still deciding. :)

Frances (francesperez) | 352 comments @Laura, I've dusted-off my Gone with the Wind from the shelf. It's a 50th Anniversary edition I've had since 1986. Ha ha. I'm set to start when you guys are.

Laura & Frances, I still hope to read Middlemarch. A buddy read would be good, I’d like to join you.

message 158: by Frances (new)

Frances (francesperez) | 352 comments @Trisha, I'll send you the link for the annotated version of Middlemarchso you have it on file as well. I've put your name and Laura's in my planner as Book Buddies for April 1 to May 31, 2021. Will we need 2 months? It's 904pp.

message 159: by Frances (last edited Nov 19, 2020 11:24AM) (new)

Frances (francesperez) | 352 comments @France-Andrée, @Helene, The Master and Margarita is 402pp and Anna Karenina is 964pp. We can read MM in Dec (1 mo) or AK Dec-Jan (2 mos). If we choose AK, we can finish in time for Gone with the Wind -1037pp which starts in Feb (til Mar?)

message 160: by France-Andrée (new)

France-Andrée (iphigenie72) | 413 comments I think I would prefer Anna K, for me it's a reread so I'll listen to it and it's a lighter fare than The Brothers Karamazov that we just finished.

message 161: by Frances (new)

Frances (francesperez) | 352 comments @France-Andrée, @Helene, @Suzy, I'll be messaging the mods to request for a thread for Anna Karenina for December. Are you all okay with this?
@Kaiser would you be interested in joining us? @Laura? @Nancy? @Andy? Any one else interested in a long Russian Read?
*I know @Phrodrick will pass on this one.

message 162: by Helene (new)

Helene I am ok with whichever you decide. I want to read all of the ones we have suggested 😊 you guys decide which order and I’ll be onboard

message 163: by Samuel (last edited Nov 19, 2020 01:34PM) (new)

Samuel (kaisserds) | 90 comments I don't think I will finish Moby Dick until mid December so I doubt I can make the schedule work. But I might be able to join late for a reread if i don't fall behind on my planning. AK is my favourite book, I hope you all enjoy it :)

Thanks for asking but I don't think I'll manage Anna K in Dec. I read it years ago and need to focu on finishing Brothers Karamazov before the end of the year!

message 165: by [deleted user] (new)

Anna Karenina in December is fine with me. Depending on how things are going, I might join Middlemarch in April.

message 166: by Frances (last edited Nov 20, 2020 04:26AM) (new)

Frances (francesperez) | 352 comments Request for Thread for Anna Karenina for Buddy Read in December sent to Mod. ✔️
Hope you can join us even towards the end of the book, @Kaisser and @Laura, as it is a 2-month read.

Update: Thread set-up already. We can just chat there. Apologies to other members for monopolizing this thread.

message 167: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 95 comments If we're reading AK in December are we rescheduling MM? I just ordered it lol. But I already own the Audio for AK so we all good.

Steve! Sorry, I've been working crazy retail hours to get ready for the hols. I own both of those so whichever you would like!

@andy -- I get it, I'm a freelancer, so my hours can be sporadic too. I picked up Flowers for Algernon yesterday but haven't started, so let's do that first. Afterward we can do some Wheel of Time.
I'm new to this, how and how often would you like to check in?

message 169: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 95 comments Hey Steve, so we can use the spoilers group thread for the book if you would like as it's still up.

Flowers For Algernon

I wouldn't read any of the posts until we finish though. Or we could just message since its just the two of us.

I'm reading it on my kindle and it doesn't have a table of contents so I'm not sure how we should break it up.

Messaging sounds easier. My version is broken into 17 progress reports, but the first 10 are each short (like 70 pages total). Maybe whoever finishes can contact the other sometime in the next few days/week.

message 171: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 95 comments That works

message 172: by Frances (new)

Frances (francesperez) | 352 comments @Andy, many of us are still interested in M&M (we all bought books too ha ha). But we were hoping to start in March if you don't mind waiting til then. Our discussion is at the M&M Buddy Read thread.

Laura (Reading is a Doing Word) (readingisadoingword) | 345 comments There's a good few of us for Gone With the Wind in Feb 2021
also for Middlemarch in April - I'm not sure can we just set up threads or does a mod have to?

message 175: by Betsy (new)

Betsy | 930 comments You are more than welcome to set up a thread if you know how, Laura otherwise let me know :)

Priyansha (alphatype) | 7 comments Is anyone down to read The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern?!?
Pm if you're interested too!!

message 180: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 95 comments I'd join for Darker Shade of Magic. I have it on my shelf. I'm still clawing my way out of serious reading slump (Sorry Steve, still working on Flowers, but now that the hols are over I should be able to fly through it).

message 181: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 95 comments Also, A Man Called Ove is soooo good! I highly recommend the Audio book for it as well! (All of Backman's work is exceptional)

message 182: by Nidhi (new)

Nidhi Kumari | 73 comments I just finished Anxious People by Backman and it’s good.

message 183: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Joys | 6 comments Is anyone down for We were Liars by E Lockhart? It’s fairly short (240 pages) and everyone I know has been raving about the plot. Is late January alright if anyone’s down?

I'd love to do We Were Liars!

message 185: by Nóri (new)

Nóri | 38 comments Would anyone be interested in reading one of these books with me?

Maurice by E.M. Forster
The Remains of the Day by Kazuo Ishiguro

I was thinking March at the earliest, for either of them.

Nóri | 38 comments Great! :)

(I'm not sure how this works though, do I open a thread now, or wait until March, or do the admins do it...?)

message 188: by Duygu (new)

Duygu | 8 comments I seem to remember someone wanting to do a buddy read of House of Leaves. Who was it? :)

I think the admins do it.

message 190: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 95 comments Quite a few of us want to read House of Leaves, I believe we agreed on February.

message 191: by Swamini (new)

Swamini (lovealwayskavya) | 3 comments Hello everyone,
Does anyone want to read Atlas Shrugged by Ayan Rand? It's a long book and I think I can finish it quicker with a partner.

message 192: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 95 comments When were you thinking of reading it? I'm always down for a reread of Atlas Shrugged!

message 193: by Swamini (new)

Swamini (lovealwayskavya) | 3 comments You are the first person who has dared to say I'll reread it. I'm almost done with reading Anxious People. When do you want to read it?

message 194: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 95 comments I'm currently going through Count of Monte Christo and I'm a little behind in other readings so not right away. I love this book. My first read through I listened to the audio book read by Scott Brick and it was superb. I recently got a physical copy too and am looking forward to annotating it!

How are you liking Anxious People? My room mate and I loved it!

message 195: by Andy (new)

Andy Capricorn | 95 comments House of Leaves thread is up!
