I know I have been wanting to read it for ages and couldn't wait for it to a win a poll any longer lol!
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... - This is the link to where the Pachinko Buddy Read will be and it starts on the 5th of July. The buddy reads have to be done in past discussion posts if it's been read before so don't read any of the previous posts because they will be filled be spoilers. Looking forward to reading with you all!
So,
The Woman in White
has been nominated a couple of times in a row now, and not quite won the poll. (I suspect the length is off-putting for some.) Is anyone interested in doing a Buddy Read of it? I’d like to start some time in July, if anyone’s interested. And this might need to span some time, since it is a pretty long book.

I'd be interested in reading The woman in white with you! I'll be reading Jurassic Park as well, but I'd like to join anyway.

María and Anna—When would be a good time to start, and what kind of timeline would work for you?
I would like to start as soon as we can—for my part, I could start as early as this weekend.

I might give it a start this weekend, but let’s try to start the discussion on Monday the 5th. I’ve never started a Buddy Read, so I’m not sure how to go about it. Is there somewhere I officially request a thread?

I’d also like to join the Pachinko buddy read—I’ve been wanting to read that one.

Anna—I can’t see the board you created, but you prompted me to give it a try. I’ve created a feed in the Buddy Reads section, here. Can someone try and tell me whether that’s visible/useable for you? Thanks!

Anyone interested in a nice long BR beginning some time in mid-August, for Charles Dickens’ Bleak House ? I thought about nominating it for a Classics read, but it’s 1000+ pages, and I can’t imagine a book that length getting the nod. I’m sure some of that is the illustrations, annotations, etc., but I’m also sure it’s a solid 800-pager on its own.
@Anna and I are reading The Woman in White now (which is actually partly where I got the idea for reading BH), and though we don’t have a schedule, I think we’ll be done by August 15 or so. I also don’t mind a bit of overlap.
Anyone interested?

I am currently working through all of Dickens books in publication order. I plan to read A Tale of Two Cities from approx 8th - 21st Oct - dates VERY flexible!
I know a few folk are already interested @Frances etc so if we have enough we can set up a thread.

If we can prolong the time til october 31 I'd love to join as well. The book has been laying on my bedside table for a while now, waiting for me to open it.

Thanks, Laura - I would like to join you in this read too.

I know the month is almost over, but the discussion of that book is still going on.

oh, yeah, i'm pretty sure i'm too late
ty though

I'm interested in reading Daniel Defoe's "A Journal of a Plague Year." It seems very relevant to today. If anyone wants to do a buddy read of this, let me know.
Also, I think it would be cool to do this on the Threadable app. They have commentary on the book by an historian of medicine, which I think would be fun to have while we read. My circle code is 65397.
I'm planning to read
The Prophets
by Robert Jones Jr., starting some time in the next month or so. Anyone interested in a BR?

ooh i'm interested!!

Sorry about the delayed response, Jayden—do you have any preference about when we start?

no worries! unfortunately i'm a bit busy, so the best time to read The Prophets would be at/after the 20th! does that work for you??

yup, that works for me

Haven't been on here in a while but thought I'd propose another buddy read.

I've just started Ulysses and am hoping to finish it by the end of the year - giving myself a VERY liberal timescale.
I have signed up to the https://moli.ie/ulysses/ so may try for their schedule although I expect to fall behind.
Any takers very welcome as I suspect support would be great for this epic read!
L

I am into Jude the Obscure. I think the group did this a few years back. Anyone interested in being a Hardy buddy?
Also I am well into NANA by Zola.
Nana is the ninth installment in the 20-volume Les Rougon-Macquart series. I have already read the first 8 and am positive a buddy would be of help to me.

My suggestions:
The Picture of Dorian Gray
Meditations
On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous
Before the Coffee Gets Cold
Normal People
I'm also open to your suggestions :)
