Challenges: Monthly > November 2019 Reporting - Vexillologist Tendencies Embraced

Of course you know what I am talking about. Any self respecting adult would have some interest in the field, and unleash the vexillologist within in them every now and then. Walk down the street and chuckle to themselves passing by a government building, satisfying the vexillophile that dwells within.

...
no?
... *cough*

According to wikipedia, which makes me an instant expert on everything, "Vexillology is the study of the history, symbolism and usage of flags or, by extension, any interest in flags in general."

So this month, we are raising multiple flags and letting them wave in the wind! I would like you to head to this website: https://www.randomlists.com/random-co...
This will pull up eight random flags from around the world. I would like you to read a book that ties into ONE of them.
(I apologise if anyone's flag is wonky or clipped on this website. The Aussie flag is very weird. This is indicative only.)

How it does is up to you.
Flag of Curaçao? Read a book set on a beach with that line of sand between the sea and the sky on the flag.
Flag of Japan? Read a book with a rising sun on the cover.
Flag of Sri Lanka? Read a book with lions in it (with or without swords).
Flag of Sweden? Read a book with a cover that is mostly blue with a bit of yellow.
Flag of Chile? Read a book by Chilean author Isabel Allende

IN THE REPORTING THREAD:
Tell me your Wall of Fame name.
Tell me the flag you are using.
Post a picture of/link to the flag.
Explain the link like I am 5.
Score.

We would appreciate your thinklings and your options in the convo thread below as we are all noisy (edit: this should have read nosey, but noisy works too) and interested, but you must have those things in your reporting thread for me to score you.

Hoping some interesting reads pop out, see if there are some more figurative links you can tease out. Or travel somewhere new. All are good options and open you to the world of Vexillology, which I had no idea was a thing until 30 mins ago!

General Rules:
1. The book may be in any format - paperback, ebook, audiobook.
2. The book may be in any genre.
3. The book may NOT be combined with the Year Long Challenge.
4. The book must be read between November 1 – November 31, 2019 (based on your local time zone).
5. The challenge is for one book. You may read more books if you chose.
6. The book must be 175 pages or more determined by the issue you read. If reading an audiobook or ebook, page numbers will be determined by the hardcover issue. If there is no hardcover, then paperback issue. Where there are more than one editions, the one with the highest number of ratings will be used.

One of the flags the randomizer gave me was Norfolk Island description. I decided to read a book with one large tree on the cover. One Day and One Amazing Morning on Orange Street by Joanne Rocklin has been on my TBR list for a while now. Now seemed the time to read it :)

Here's my scoring -
How many pages?:
2 pts – 201-300 (listened to the audio book, hardcover has 224 pages.)

How did you come up with your link?
5 pts – related to an icon on the flag (one large tree)
3 pts – main colour of the flag is 75% of the cover (tineye says it's 86.4% green)

Cover
1 pt – There is a tree on the cover

2 points for Lexx's random criteria – Something you have drunk in the last day is drunk in the book: characters and I both drank water (I do wish that I had had orange juice for breakfast though :)

Total points: 13

Rusalka, I wasn't sure about "How did you come up with your link". 4 pts – all the colours of the flag are easily identifiable on the cover

There's obviously enough green, but I wasn't sure if the white was easily identifiable enough to claim these points. There's only a few scattered white clouds under the tree. Can you give me a ruling?

But I did learn a lot about the flag of Isle of Man. It seems it's a mystery as to why the triskelion, which dates back to the 13th century, was originally adopted as the icon for the flag.
