A family ranch in Big Sur country and a legacy of Hollywood royalty set the stage for Nora Roberts’ emotional new suspense novel.

Caitlyn Sullivan, a daughter of Hollywood royalty, was already a star at ten, but still loved to play hide-and-seek with her cousins at the family home in Big Sur. It was during one of those games that she disappeared.

Despite her glamorous background, Cate was a shrewd, scrappy survivor, and she managed to escape her abductors. Callan Cooper was shocked to find the bruised and terrified girl huddled in his ranch house kitchen—but when the teenager and his family heard her story they provided refuge and comfort, reuniting her with her loved ones.

Cate’s ordeal, though, was far from over. First came the discovery of a betrayal that would send someone she’d trusted to prison. Then there were years away in Ireland, sheltered and protected but with restlessness growing in her soul. Then, finally, she returned to Los Angeles, hoping to act again and get past the trauma that had derailed her life. What she didn’t yet know was that two seeds had been planted that long-ago night—one of a great love, and one of a terrible vengeance…

Agnieszka (agnieszka7) | 177 comments Do you have an idea if it will be open internationally or US only again?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7085 comments Mod
I’m pretty sure it’s US only as the international rules haven’t changed. However, I’ll verify.

message 22: by Erin (new) - rated it 5 stars

Erin (tesserin) | 406 comments For fans outside the US, I wonder if St Martin’s Press would do an eBook giveaway or if MacMillan would do a giveaway of the audiobook?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7085 comments Mod
I believe it’s international rules that prevent the publisher from doing the sweepstakes. As I said above, I will pursue.

:-( still thank you. I noticed there were huge changes a few years ago and now the restrictions for European readers (especially from Germany) are even bigger - but that's something neither you nor the publishers have an influence on. Still it's really sad.

It's very sad, especially as they don't seem to benefit anyone...just shut down an outlet for readers.

Zinha69 | 72 comments Thank you !!!

message 43: by Dawn (new) - rated it 5 stars

Dawn | 199 comments I was finally able to tow my trailer back to Oregon from southern Ca, after getting stuck in the lockdown. I listened to the audiobook during the trip. I loved the book and January Lavoy did another great job.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7085 comments Mod
Wow, Dawn! Had no idea you’d gotten marooned. Glad you finally made it home.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7085 comments Mod
This is now a spoiler zone. Feel free to discuss the book openly.

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 7085 comments Mod
Dawn since you listened to it and are an audiobook user/listener, were you aware of all that is involved in being a narrator? I had no clue.

January LaVoy is in my top five favorite narrators and is probably my most favorite female narrator. She was perfect in this one.

Margaret Standafer | 205 comments That was a favorite part of the book for me, learning about voice acting. I had no idea what was involved and found it very interesting. Nora always comes up with cool jobs to give her characters!

Barbara "Cookie" Serfaty Williams (goodreadscomcookiew1801) | 689 comments Just finished listening to”Hideaway “ love it. I always thought listen to book took away you imagination but I was wrong. Some of the reader use different voice for the characters and it’s easy to see that character. Love some of the audio.

It was so fitting that LaVoy be the narrator of this story.

One of the things I like about Nora’s books is the jobs she details. I always learn something.

I’m glad you specifically enjoyed the audio format, Cookie! It’s such a pleasure in the hands of a good narrator.
