Charles Sterling | 21 comments I love writing my short stories with a strong moral to them.
This short story is about an alchemy wizard that creates perfumes.
Different perfume notes represent different traits and characteristics.
Rose would make you more romantic, Amber would make you more confident, Citrus would make you more happy etc.

So people come to this wizard to buy a perfume from him to help them in their daily needs, or before a date, or at work, and it helps them out tremendously.

But, a perfume wears out eventually, and with the wearing out of the perfume the traits wear off as well, and the people go back to their normal states.

The moral of the story is supposed to be, you cannot fake characteristics and pretend you're someone you're not because eventually people will see through that.

I'd love any thoughts and opinions on this!

Sam | 34 comments Great idea for a story. Perfume seeks to attract. Flowers attract insects with scent and we as humans aim to create allure when in search of a mate. Although, I can see the moral aspect, unfortunately the art of deception is very much part of the human situation. It might be described as insight where a person applies perfume and wears fashionable clothes when meeting a prospective partner to create a good impressiopn. We go through life adapting to new environments and we can often be in transition to a new role. Charlatans do pretend to be financial experts, which is fraudulent, but writers, for example develop skills the more they write. First to admit to be on a perpetual learning curve to improve skill set. In a mystical magical sense perfume can be a marker for a certain ability which wanes with scent dilution. Like the stroke of midnight which turns Cinderella's coach back to a pumpkin.
