Terrie | 5 comments Red Queen for me - I have it on the shelf and it satisfies another challenge category too. Don't think I'll get through all the prompts, but there are some fun, challenging ones, so I'm looking forward to it.

Jessica (gorjessina17) | 8 comments poshpenny wrote: "And the Ocean Was Our Sky by Patrick Ness And the Ocean Was Our Sky"

That's a good book. I read it last year for "A Retelling". :)

I would say yes.

Yes!

Sheila (sel123) | 21 comments I am hoping to choose one of these reads:

This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel

Ketutar Jensen | 98 comments Mikaela wrote: "Thoughts on Recursion by Blake Crouch? It's not upside down per se, but the infinity symbol is not facing the right way..."
I don't think it counts. But it's what you think that counts :-D

Ketutar Jensen | 98 comments Allie wrote: "I actually found out the VE Schwab is only 32 now, so she was definitely in her 20s when the first two Shades of Magics books came out! "

Oh, yes! Thank you! It's on my to-read list as well :-D

Ketutar Jensen | 98 comments Sarah wrote: "I think I'm going to try and read: The Hanged Man (The Tarot Sequence, #2) by K.D. Edwards "

I was thinking about that, too! :-D

So... where to put the first book? The Last Sun (The Tarot Sequence, #1) by K.D. Edwards

Do you think the first line is great?
"My name is Rune Saint John."

There's quite a lot of blogs that recommend it. One of them might be your favorite?

I'm pretty sure it passes the Bechdel test.

It was published in June, is that possibly your birth month?

One could say there's a pun in the title, as Rune is the "last son" of the sun court - the last sun?

It has 4.20 rating

You meant to read it 2019, as it still is 2019 :-D

The cover is kind of pink

The title has three words if you count "the" as a word

message 69: by Linda (new)

Linda Varick-cooper | 20 comments I read Endurance: A Year in Space, A Lifetime of Discovery for last year's challenge for the prompt about a book set in space.

It would work for upside down image on the cover. Endurance A Year in Space, A Lifetime of Discovery by Scott Kelly

message 70: by Lucie (new)

Lucie Moulton | 9 comments Curious Incident, Virgin Suicides, and Life After Life are all 4/5 star reads for me.

message 71: by Miranda (new)

Miranda (mirandom) | 37 comments The movie tie-in edition of The Gunslinger by Stephen King has an upside-down cityscape on the cover. The series can also work for a few other prompts (author with more than 20 books, made-up languages, great first line) if you like using series to check off multiple prompts.

The Gunslinger (The Dark Tower, #1) by Stephen King

message 72: by Aimee (new)

Aimee (pebbles320) I've just started reading This Is How You Lose the Time War and really enjoying it so far.

North American Lake Monsters by Nathan Ballingrud Only Superhuman by Christopher L. Bennett

I couldn't believe it but I found both of these books I like 5 minutes!! Yet on Thursday at the other Library I had spent like 40 minutes looking through books for an upside-down image and couldn't find any.

These are both from the sci-fi area.

Lilith (lilithp) | 1073 comments Her Silhouette, Drawn in Water by Vylar Kaftan

This might have the prettiest cover I've ever seen.
I read this for the prompt. The premise was interesting, and the first half was kind of intriguing, but overall, it just left me meh . If you like fantasy, though, this could be for you.

Kirsten Grier | 33 comments Would you consider this an upside down image? I just finished it. I asked my kids and they said no lol The Shadows The Shadows by Alex North

The Bookish Vixen (the_bookish_vixen) Bellewether by Susanna Kearsley
I read this one by Susanna Kearsley, whose books I just love. Its a time jump novel telling two stories, and it has ghosts and a little bit of romance.

Drakeryn | 708 comments Kirsten wrote: "Would you consider this an upside down image? I just finished it. I asked my kids and they said no lol The Shadows The Shadows by Alex North"

Personally, I wouldn't. The hand isn't really upside down. Like if I stood up with my hands at my sides, that's how my hands would be.

message 95: by Sean (new)

Sean (sbowden) | 10 comments My copy of Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe should work for this prompt, pretty incredible book if you've never read it:

Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe

in my opinion, The Gloaming or My Hero Academia fit best, Blue maybe/leaning yes, but Autoboyography I wouldn't count- the book isn't really shown upside down to me, but YMMV.
