What is your certain topic you are looking for? And do you have kindle unlimited?

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 148 comments How specific, and how soon do you need them? Are you looking for current books or old classics?

If your topic is very specific, search for book titles first. Search here and on amazon. If you have a couple titles in mind, start with those, and you may get suggestions for related books. If you have plenty of time, be sure to put any desired books in your wishlist on amazon, and on your to-read shelf on goodreads. There are ways to get notified of deals that may pop up later.

Check your public library online, using Libby (easiest) or overdrive. You'll need a library card. This is always the first place I look when I'm researching a topic for an upcoming presentation. If there is a specific book you really want, you can put in a purchase request with your library system. In New York state, you can also apply for a library card from the NY public library, and you can get electronic files online.

On Amazon you can search for Free or discounted kindles. You can browse large genres. Also search for Prime books if you're an Amazon Prime member. And check Kindle unlimited as well. Many of Amazon's freebies or discounts are only available for a few days or weeks. If you find books you want, be sure to put them in your wishlist.

If you're looking for very OLD books, a good place to start is Project Gutenberg. Amazon should have all the project gutenberg books, but they're often buried under pages of other book offers. Just keep paging through if you have a specific title.

There are free subscription services that will notify you of free and discounted book deals. I use Bookbub and I get a daily list emailed to me. If you follow certain authors, you'll get their books and their recommendations as well.

Also, on Goodreads you can enter to win giveways, and you can sort by specific categories. Most are print books, but they often have kindles too. Many are brand new books that haven't even been released yet. I've had a lot of luck with giveaways.

Send me a direct message with your topic and I might be able to give more specific advice.

Google your question to get more tips.

There is an archive of old member questions and answers, but I can't remember what it was called. Someone else might know. It was replaced by a help section which only pertains to goodreads issues, not amazon issues.
