Shay (shaylyn318) | 57 comments There are many horror books I have not gotten a chance to read yet. I am always looking for more to add to my collection. I have The Traveling Vampire Show on Kindle because it was free or cheap I can’t remember and I have heard many recommend it. I have heard people say he is rapey in his books. I have only read half of TTVS and yes some of the sex obsessed stuff isn’t enjoyable for me to read. Even King will sometimes bother me with the creepy sex thoughts of his characters. I just brush it off because I do like many of his books other that that. The thing I am wanting to stay away from is the constant perverted stuff. So if there are any certain books or authors that are obsessive in that way please let me know. I don’t want to add any books to my collection if I am not going to enjoy them. I tend to visit used bookstores and will pick up titles I have heard recommended before.

Definitely stay away from Richard Laymon. His books are rife with juvenile sex obsession and often has more adult "rapey" scenes. I finally gave up on him after too many books with pedophilia thoughts (and sometimes actions) by the characters.

William (williemeikle) Yep. I know many other horror writers swear by Laymon, but he seemed to take too much glee in degrading people, women in particular, in a lot of his books, and I too gave up on him.

Char | 17465 comments Laymon is too much for me, and also seemed to be more male-oriented horror. The Traveling Vampire Show just went on and on about breasts and to be honest? When you have them? They don't seem all that mesmerizing. Just sayin'. ;)
