Cozy Mystery Corner discussion

Kind of an odd topic but I'm looking for reading light or lamp recommendation. I have tried several and it's often too flimsy, to dim, or too bright! I used to have a lamp that broke that was perfect, bright enough to read to but if I fell asleep I didn't wake up feeling like I was staring at the sun. Any suggestions?
