Foster Stewart knows she's different. Her life has never been "normal." Talking to plants and controlling cloud formations aren't things most seventeen year olds are into. Tate "Nighthawk" Taylor is perfect. Star quarterback and all around dreamy boy next door he never thought about his "extra" abilities. What quarterback wouldn't want night vision? That's not weird, right? It's cool!

But on the night of their first meeting a deadly tornado brings them together and awakens their true abilities - the power to control the element air. Unbeknown to Tate and Foster, they are the first in a group of teens that were genetically manipulated before birth to bond with the elements. Which truly sucks for Foster, as she has to face the fact that Dr. Rick Stewart, her beloved scientist father, betrayed her and now wants to use her and the others for his own nefarious world domination plot.

Foster and Tate must stop Dr. Stewart and his minions before he destroys their lives and the world.

Ch 7 (view spoiler)[ So Rick is Foster's adoptive dad and he did some genetic stuff to her and Tate and these other kids out there to give them powers? And he also "made" Eve and her brothers? I need more info about this. Foster is kind of a jerk and I feel bad for Tate. (hide spoiler)]
ch 15 (view spoiler)[ Now we're meeting some of the other kids with abilities. This is a bit confusing, I hope it comes together. I'm glad Tate is talking to his grandpa, it's keeping him happy and his grandpa doesn't think he's dead. (hide spoiler)]
ch 22 (view spoiler)[ The surfer water element guy is Creole. I had to google it because I apparently missed that part ha. I feel bad for how Charlotte was treated by that gross gas station guy. People are such dicks. I also wonder if all the pairs are 1 boy and 1 girl? (hide spoiler)]
Finished (view spoiler)[ Okay, they used love against hate to temporarily defeat the four. I get it, because that's a big theme in the HoN books, but I don't love it. They should just be more badass lol. I'm really glad Gpa and the dog lived because I was worried for them. I wonder if we'll see the other 2 pairs next book or just 1? (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 10 (view spoiler)[ This has been okay but for a first in series I am super confused. Also I keep forgetting who is who for some reason. It's been weird too because Foster sounds both like she doesn't know what she is but also knows she's different and it's weird?? Idk how to describe it, but there were comments made to both Foster & Tate making it sound like other people know they have these strange abilities before they even knew. (hide spoiler)]

Ch. 16 (view spoiler)[ I like that Tate and Foster aren't fighting as much and are trying to work together. For a hot second I thought Finn and Sabine might be one of the kids with elemental powers. I'm excited to see Charlotte and Bastien find Foster and learn to control their powers more. Seemed like Bastien may be a fire elemental but I'm not sure about Charlotte. (hide spoiler)]
