Kristie | 3595 comments I am happy with my progress this month and looking at my slow, but steady progress since this challenge started I'm liking the overall direction. I've had plenty of months where I think I'm not doing well, but when you look at the stats all together it seems that the good months have outweighed the not-so-good months.

My stats at the beginning of each year since the challenge started.

Started April 2016:
Books on shelf: 15
NetGalley ratio: 74%

Jan 2017:
Books on shelf: 12
NetGalley ratio: 86%

Jan 2018:
Books on Shelf: 13
NetGalley Ratio: 89%

Jan 2019:
Books on Shelf: 12
Already published: 9
NetGalley Ratio: 92%

Jan 2020:
Books on Shelf: 8
Already published: 2
NetGalley Ratio: 95%

The two books that have already been published on my shelf going into the new year are really old and were included in the books already published in January last year as well. I'm going to try to get those off my shelf soon. I am happy to report that I have no more recently published books to review. Phew! It took forever, but I am mostly caught up finally.

Vicki Willis | 496 comments I finished one Manhunters How We Took Down Pablo Escobar, the World's Most Wanted Criminal by Steve Murphy - Not the best, 3 stars
and added one We, The Wildflowers by L.B. Simmons

I think I am going to finish one more before the end of the month. I am reading the oldest one on my shelf (from 2018 - I hate to say it).
A Steep Price (Tracy Crosswhite, #6) by Robert Dugoni But it is 6th in a good series and I have the 7th which comes out in February, so there's that!

Kristie | 3595 comments Vicki - I'm interested in that Robert Dugoni series, but I haven't started it yet and I'm not in a position to take on another series right now. (I have book #5 in the Orphan X series, which comes out in January, through NetGalley and I haven't started that series yet.) Are you current with the series? What do you think of it? It seems to be highly rated.

Vicki Willis | 496 comments Kristie,
I am almost current. I am reading #6 now and #7 comes out in February. I really like it. It is an easy read with likable characters. The supporting characters have also developed with the series, so there is that. The mysteries are stand alones, but the books should be read in order because of the character development. I would recommend it.

Kristie | 3595 comments Thanks, Vicki. I’ll add it to my list of series I’d like to try.

Vicki Willis | 496 comments I am going to try to read one more this month, which is the other one lingering from 2018.
That would put me with 4 past publication(from Sept., Oct., and Nov. of 209), which I am going to try to be caught up with by the end of April.
For 2020 I am going to work hard to not let any slip by.

Kristie | 3595 comments That's great, Vicki. My two that are past publication are really old. One is from 2018 and the other is from 2017! Oops...

I also want to try to keep up with pub dates in 2020. That is my goal for the year. I know I will have one that gets by me in January because of the series reads, but I hope to read them all quickly and get to it in February.
