Lucy Furr (lucyfurr) | 775 comments For art/lit, nay, painting on cover.

Would either of these qualify:

Shadows Over Main Street by Doug Murano
Shadows Over Main Street Volume 2 by Doug Murano

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments I think those are both cover art, and not a painting. Do you have the task, "set in a small town"? It would work for that.

message 53: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Furr (lucyfurr) | 775 comments That's fine, wasn't sure if it would work or not. I do have the small town task and was planning to read one for it, just thought I might be able to squeeze the other in somewhere.

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments Here I thought they were the same book, just different editions. I hope you can fit volume 2 into another slot.

Lucy Furr (lucyfurr) | 775 comments I can see how you might of thought that. No worries, I'll read it either way.

Jenn | 3029 comments Hey Janice, for the Art/Lit - Nay - painting on the cover. Would you accept The Da Vinci Code? It is the Mona Lisa, but is it enough of her?

Yes, I think it will work.

Amanda | 1796 comments For Art/Literature: N - There is a painting on cover. Does this book work?

Jesus and the Gospels by Craig L. Blomberg

I'm looking at the hardcover and I think it's parts of four paintings.

Jenn | 3029 comments Hey Janice, just to make sure that I have this right . . . History - Nay is intended to be any book by an author who has won a Nobel Prize, and not limited to books that have won, right?

My understanding is that the prize goes to the author and not to a specific book. According to Wikipedia, it's awarded to the author on their body of work as a whole. You may pick any book the author has written.

That is interesting. I did not know that. :)

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments Jayme, I always assumed it was based on the book, and it wasn't until I was doing up the tasks for the challenge that I stumbled across this little tidbit.

message 65: by Jenn (new)

Jenn | 3029 comments Very cool, thanks Janice. I had always thought it was attached to the book too

Kristie | 19193 comments Janice, I'm not 100% sure I understand the Art/Literature: N - There is a painting on cover task. Would something like this work? Where the cover picture looks like it was painted? It doesn't have to be a painting like something that was framed or something famous, right?

Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney

It looks like a watercolour painting, so I will accept it.

It looks like it could be a painting. Go ahead.

Jenn | 3029 comments Janice, for Sport - Nay - Theme of the book is food - would you accept Cranberry Bluff? While technically it is a romantic mystery, it is set in a town named for its attempt to grow cranberries (albeit a failed attempt). And, it is specifically set in a bed and breakfast that is very cranberrysentric, and there is great description of everything that Molly shops for, or cooks for her guests, as well as the entire last chapter being a cookbook.
