Jannene | 3124 comments Janice will this work for stormy sky? Lost and Gone Forever (Scotland Yard's Murder Squad, #5) by Alex Grecian

message 3: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments That is one creepy cover with the empty chairs. The sky does look threatening, so I'll approve it.

message 4: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Yay!! We thought it was creepy too.

message 5: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments I need to get back to that series. I've read the first 3 books. Maybe I'll make that a priority for 2020.

message 6: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Let Dom and I know if you plan on finishing them this year. We need to read the last two, Harvest Man and Lost and Gone Forever. We found spots for both books.

I'll make a note of that and can look at it a bit more closely when I start to plan my series.

Jayme | 4532 comments For history - yay - prize winner in 2007 - any prize. Does the prize have to be listed on the main page? Thirteen Moons won the Southern Book Prize in 2007, but it's not listed.
I could also put a link to the Southern Book Prize page if you need to verify when I report. : ) Thanks.

It doesn't need to be on the main book page, but you should explain that in your report.

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments I don't think 222 is a combination of digits found in 212. You should remove it and add 21. (on the Yay task for Science.)

Thanks Cherie. Fixed.

message 12: by Lori Z (new)

Lori Z | 2089 comments For Science Nay task - stormy seas would any of these work?
The Missing One by Lucy Atkins
So Terrible a Storm A Tale of Fury on Lake Superior by Curt Brown (although technically its stormy lake)
Noah's Ark Survivors by Harry Dayle
Thanks!

message 13: by Janice, Moderator (new)

Janice (jamasc) | 59964 comments They will all work, Lori.

Lake Superior is the largest freshwater lake in the world and equivalent to an inland sea. It's 1300 feet at it's deepest. So it definitely fits the task. So Terrible a Storm: A Tale of Fury on Lake Superior sounds like an interesting read.

message 14: by Lori Z (new)

Lori Z | 2089 comments Thanks Janice for approving my choices and for the info on Lake Superior. I had no idea it was that large. Anyway, I think that might be the book I go with for that task, have to see what I'm in the mood for when its time.

message 15: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Funny, I don’t think I have the stormy seas task but I have that Lake Superior book on my list for something. I’ve had it on my TBR for a few years.

message 16: by Jannene (new)

Jannene | 3124 comments Cherie, I’m seeing a tread with you having books on your TBR for a few years.

message 17: by Cherie (new)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Yes, Jannene. Too many books and too little time to read them. I will be retired some day though, and will have more time. The books will just have to bide their time. 📚

It's not scheduled to be released until Jan 14, 2020 in North America. Perhaps it will be released in the UK around the same time.

I would say that Obsidian would be more stormy skies. There's very little of the sea and it doesn't look all that wild.

L'Auberge de la Jamaïque would definitely be stormy seas.

I don't think you need a ruling on this, Viji. Classic is listed as a main page genre, and Georgette Heyer is a woman. So, it's pretty obvious that it would fit.

Thanks, Janice. I once mixed up the genres literary and literary fiction and did not want to repeat the same here again. The MPG simply states 'Classics' and not 'classic literature' so I wanted to be sure if the books fits the task before I post it.

I’m getting ready to read the oldest book - #1! Thanks.
