Order of Books read: no requirement re: order books are read. You can read badges out of order. ie. if you've read a book for Geography in Card 1 and counted it for Badge 1, you may read another book that fits another task for that card and count it for Badge 3 even though you have not finished badge 1. You just need to clearly mark it when you track your books.

Yes, we are! Do join us buddy reading it!!!!! 😃

Yes, we are! Do join us buddy reading it!!!..."
Just let me know when. Will you be setting your buddy reads up in the buddy read folder, or in your joint thread?

Yes, we are! Do join us budd..."
Not sure, but that's a good idea - maybe we can organize/figure out all the reads in our joint thread, and then we could create a buddy read thread each month for the chosen book, for any others who'd like to join in!

⭐⭐⭐⭐
I enjoyed this a lot - great worldbuilding, characters, storyline. I loved the dynamics between Kelle and Delilah - she was a real firecracker! The magical piece was really well done.

1. Card 29 - History Yay
2. Link – One Child: The Story of China's Most Radical Experiment
3. Audiobook (HC = 272 pg)
4. Read a book set in Modern Day China
5. Published in 2016, author documents the 'one-child' policy's repercussions on every sector of Chinese society, from implementation to today to the future.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I thought this book was really fascinating, the author spent many years investigating and documenting this issue. I learned so much! There are such far-reaching consequences that were not foreseen at the time the policy was implemented.

Thanks, Margo! I had lined up quite a few books ahead of time, so it's fun racing through them now!! Can't....get....enough... 😄

1. Card 15 - Sport Yay
2. Link - Between Shades of Gray
3. Audiobook (HC = 344pg)
4. Read a book set between 1939 and 1949
5. Book is set between 1941 and 1945, during WWII, when thousands of Lithuanians (mostly women and children) were deported to Siberian labor camps/forced settlements.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
powerful, emotional... a read that really sticks with you! A difficult subject matter, but expertly handled by the author, crafting a book that's appropriate for YA audience, but doesn't shy away from the grim realities of these tragic human injustices. Strong emotional connections with the characters, all the feels!

I rated it 5 stars! It was definitely haunting!

1. Card 24 - ArtLit Yay
2. Link - Normal People
3. Audiobook (HC = 273pg)
4. Read a book is set in Ireland, or is written by an Irish author.
5. The book is set in Dublin, Ireland, AND the author is Irish.
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I didn't think I was going to like this but I did! I got drawn into all the angst of the two MC's Marianne and Connell! I loved the audio narration by Aoife McMahon, that made it for me!

Margo wrote: "I really didn't like it! I quite liked Conversations with Friends. I've heard that if people who like the one they won't like the other....."
It was a polarizing book for sure, I can see how it could be liked or disliked... I will definitely give Conversations with Friends a go too, Margo! That's interesting that they're both so different and that readers tend to like one OR the other! hmmm we shall see, I'm curious now!

1. Card 1 - Geo Nay
2. Link - The Things They Carried
3. Audiobook (HC = 256pg)
4. Read a book is set in Vietnam/ Vietnemese author.
5. More than 50% of the book is set in Vietnam during the Vietnam war. It's a historical fiction of vignettes/stories of soldier's experiences during the war. A few stories recount experiences once back in the US.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I can see why this is hailed as a modern classic. The stories get right inside the soldiers heads as to what they're feeling & experiencing as they're in the midst of it all. The writing is exceptionally well done. The audio narration by actor Bryan Cranston was excellent, and the rawness of the stories will stick with me for a long time.

I have wanted to read this book for a long time and it has been on my TBR forever. I got the answer correct, so I have to read a book set in France or by a French author though.

oops, you're right... fixed.. card 1
I hope you get a chance to read this one, maybe there's another task that would work!

1. Card 12 - ArtLit Nay
2. Link - Big Lies in a Small Town
3. Audiobook (HC = 400pg)
4. Read a book set in a small town.
5. The book is set in the small town of Edenton, NC during two different timeperiods
⭐⭐⭐⭐
This author is a wonderful storyteller! This one has a dual timeline between 2018 and 1940 in small town North Carolina. I found both the past and the present equally engaging, with an interesting cast of characters. I thought the story wove the threads together nicely by the end - a satisfying read!

Thanks for posting, that's certainly a good deal, and I would have jumped on that for sure except that I already have a paperback copy on its way to me (from Paperback Swap)... so didn't need the kindle this time - I can imagine that was a popular deal though!

Badge 3, Book 1
1. Card 13 - His Yay
2. Link - A Fatal Grace
3. Audiobook (HC = 311pg)
4. A book that's a prize winner in 2007 (any prize)
5. The book won an Agatha Award Best Novel in 2007
⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love the Canadian/Quebec small town setting with the quirky unique characters. It was a complex mystery that unraveled bit by bit, lots of characters and side stories to keep you guessing. This series is growing on me.. looking forward to reading more...

I'm glad that works for you too, Cherie! And I hope you enjoy the story. Jayme and I were figuring out how many books of the series we could fit into tasks... here's more ideas for you if you keep going with this series and have these tasks...

I had only ever seen the movie of this (which I loved). I can now say I love the BOOK and the MOVIE. Both great in my opinion. The audiobook narration by Frank Muller made for a great listening experience. It's such a powerful story all the way through, and what a fascinating cast of characters.
